@Simply_Shula @paleochristcon Which BTW in reference to the Houthi attacks we saw absolutely no shortages or major price hikes only nominal price increases as the trade routes adjusted to ongoing events.

See but again even if I grant the high numbers here 16% of total US important pass through the Red Sea/Suez route. Even if I fully grant that this route is eliminated this is a completely replaceable shipping route. Goods could be brought to the US west coast through the pacific or around the Horn of Africa as they have done many of times during previous disruptions in this region. Then we have to break down what exactly is being imported through this route, its largely manifactured textile goods and retail products largely non-essential goods aside from some machinery/industrial equipment and refined materials. With it being largely non-essential these shortages would likely only lead to nominal price increases we can reference history. Reference the Houthi attacks in 2023-2024 for recent examples.

20-30% of global oil imports pass through the Strait of Hormuz sure I’ll grant that. But that only accounts for less than 7% of US oil imports and that number drops continuously year by year. This is kinda pushing away from the point though. It’s entirely plausible if the US (now heavily influencing control of Venezuelan oil) turns the spigot on from imports that don’t require importation through the Strait. The effects on American oil prices are minimal at best. There’s also the potential that with the Iranian navy depleted as it is now, the strait still has general security guarantees which won’t spike oil prices in the way you’re attempting to prescribe. Thus making the effect on actual American consumer prices relatively minimal.

@RyanLotridge @paleochristcon The world is interconnected in so many ways, mostly economically. The Strait of Hormuz, for example, is a critical chokepoint for the transportation of oil. 100 million ppl is more ppl than died during WW2. Nuclear disaster on this scale would affect everyone.

@Simply_Shula @paleochristcon Largely effecting Europe and other countries within the Middle East. The US is insulated by two oceans and a current president who likely wouldn’t admit a single refugee from a nation we’re actively at war with.

@paleochristcon It doesn't work like that. Any war on this scale would result in a massive refugee crisis.

@RyanLotridge @eoshush @Timcast Too bad Trump can’t be elected for a 3rd term; I’m maga through and through and even I wouldn’t vote for him again. Why? Because by law it says 2x and that’s it. Yo just love hating on the guy. Watch that TDS you have, make sure it doesn’t spread. It’s a disease ya know.

Good job on repeating the same talking points. They’re just pre-textual justifications for the operation. Even if Iran achieved nuclear armament how did they pose a direct threat to the United States population in that regard? Trick question because they didn’t. The only population they became a direct threat to in post of nuclear armament is Israel. Also it’s hard to believe how close they were to having nuclear weapons when we’ve been hearing how close they are for the better part of 30 years. The question still remains. How does this benefit the American people?

Look, you can be against the incredibly effective military operation in Iran. But the whole painting of the Iran-critical as “paid by the joos!” … that’s over with the Iranian people passionately celebrating GLOBALLY, right? Many, many people happy to see this. Don’t have to agree. Do have to acknowledge.

@dimabrat1980 @stashattack85 @Timcast Long standing strategy? Trumps decisions in his first term literally put us into this position to where war was inevitable. This isn’t some plan trust long term game it’s a response to the real effects of poor policy decision.

There’s also the question of what happens now they’re claiming a massive victory here but this is just the beginning. The Guardian Council is largely unaccounted for likely some if not all may be dead. The Assembly of Experts is still unaccounted for but likely may be alive. We cut the head off the snake but the theocracy isn’t just one dude there’s institutional theocratic power that could still be operational and able to regain a hold over the country using the IRGC.

The solidarity of the Iranian people against the regime? By what metric are we determining this? The protest were largely reserved to Kurdish majority areas in the western part of the country. We can’t forget that Iran is a very diverse nation in the Kurdish. People are in a multinational struggle for autonomy and independence. Where are we pulling? The Iranian people universally stand in solidarity against the regime?

@RyanLotridge @Timcast I disagree with your assessment. Given the solidarity of the Iranian people against the regime, and the clearly solvent and capable monarch-in-exile, I think there’s a very good chance it will likely be a revived democratic Iran as it was before the mullahs took over.

Is this doing it? Strategically is pushing forward regime change a strategic move. If it is a strategic move then who’s interest is it actually working certainly not the United States. We destabilized a stable but dictatorial regime in favor of what will likely be a chaotic war torn, failed state

@RyanLotridge @Timcast Honestly, at first I thought you had something. But all of those are specifically about the idea of Obama doing it in order to influence the election - not because it’s intrinsically wrong. Peace through strength has always been his strategy. It means doing it strategically.

More Iran strikes than deep state arrests. More Iran strikes than Epstein arrests. More war spending than DOGE cuts. Board of Peace launches war. Ran against the unpopular Mid East foreign policy of Bush. Said we'd put America 1st, foreign interests happier than Americans.

Even if I grant your position, your previous statement is nonsense. It’s not majority Christian maybe secularism maybe cultural Islamic beliefs sort of in the same way we have cultural Christians in the US but it’s still a majority Muslim. There’s no way to truly accurately poll it but I would venture a guess it’s still in the realm of 60 to 70% even if I granted that it’s not the 95% that the official government polling says.

@RyanLotridge @Gladius44 @Timcast Islam is a minority the polls are skewed because there is a sword at the neck of the people to say they are Muslim most are honestly Atheist, why have they been burning down mosques if they are so Muslim there is no way its 95%.

@RyanLotridge @Gladius44 @Timcast Have these other countries ever had a democracy, Islam is a minority class in Iran, most are Atheist or Christian. It doesn't hinge on anything it is a valid estimate for what the people are calling for majority calling for a constitutional monarch where multiple parties rep ppl.

@ColosusWord @Gladius44 @Timcast But your argument hinges on these diametrically opposed ethnic groups coming together for state craft, and when we look at examples of other states that have the same kind of ethnic tensions in the Middle East, what has happened?

To add to that point as well, Iran is a very diverse country with many different ethnic groups that exist inside of the country. There’s already ethnic tension within the country that was evidenced in the recent revolt that we saw Iran, which happened in the Kurdish parts of Iran in post of a regime collapse. What makes you think that these ethnic groups will just quietly get behind one regime it’s illogical.

You’re just presuming that if regime change happens we will institute a pro US regime. It’ll be flowers and roses and rainbows. Every single recent conflict in the Middle East is demonstrated the exact opposite. There’s absolutely no strategic stability that comes out of regime changes. Venezuela was the exception not the standard.

I said the new bases in Iran would be the pressure, Removing Iran from the picture and its Nuclear ability weakens Russia and China with removing an ally that has even more bodies and equipment. So in the future it won't be pulling resources. Its regime change
