Data released by the ABS today paints a grim picture for Labor’s economic management in South Australia.
Under Labor, gross household disposable income per capita was just over $54,000 in the last financial year.
The national average was $62,000.
We have also seen Gross State Product per capita decline for the second consecutive year.
We need a change. That’s why the Liberals will deliver a plan focused on productivity, investment, and improving the living standards of South Australians.

The buyback scheme will form phase three of our plan to Save our Seas.
It will be designed alongside industry, ensuring it reflects their daily operations, supports long-term sustainability, and strengthens the viability of those who choose to remain in fishery.
It will also help assist the sustainability and conservation of our oceans by allowing fish stocks to recover, while maintaining a fair compensation for commercial fishers.

Today I met with commercial fisherman, Justin.
His industry has been decimated by the algal bloom.
For the fishers who are ready to leave the industry, they deserve to be able to do so with dignity.
That’s why a new Liberal Government will deliver an emergency $21 million voluntary fisheries buyback scheme.
Ensuring we can provide a genuine, fair, and practical pathway forward for the industry.

We are backing the science.
Our policy to Save our Seas is grounded in the advice of The Nature Conservancy and the Senate Inquiry Report’s findings.
They highlighted that artificial reefs and the restoration of shellfish reefs would directly contribute to mitigate South Australia from the impacts of climate change and current and future consequences of harmful algal blooms.
According to The Nature Conservancy, for 50ha of shellfish restoration we will approximately have:
• 305 million litres a day of seawater filtration (the equivalent of 122 Olympic swimming pools every day)
• 62,100kg of nitrogen removed from our waters per year (the equivalent of the sewage of 31,000 people)
• 525 employment opportunities (the equivalent of staffing 5 supermarkets)
By backing the science, our policy will make a meaningful difference in protecting marine life and rebuilding ecosystems.

Today we announced the first phase of our ambitious plan to save our seas.
The toxic algal bloom has devastated marine life, threatened jobs, and hit our fishing, aquaculture, and tourism industries hard.
If we want our future generations to inherit a clean ocean, teeming with life, then we need proportionate action to restore our marine habitats.
That’s why a new Liberal Government will launch an ambitious nature-based solution to clean our oceans, rebuild ecosystems, and protect marine life. Through a $30 million commitment, we will restore an initial 50 hectares of new shellfish reefs along our coastline.
We’re also calling for the Federal Government to fund an additional 200 hectares of large-scale reef restoration as part of a broader $500 million marine restoration fund.
Our oceans are sick.
But with meaningful action, we can rebuild fish stocks and kickstart a healthier, more resilient ecosystem.

Jeff has spent years diving our beautiful coastal waters. Seeing the damage caused by the algal bloom up close has been heartbreaking.
The Liberal Party have a plan to rebuild our marine ecosystems and protect South Australia’s coastal livelihoods.

Ads won’t build new homes.
They won’t lower power prices.
And they won’t bring in new beds to our hospitals.
Yet Labor are spending nearly $160 million of taxpayers’ money on government advertisements.
A new Liberal Government will halve spending on government advertising.
Because taxpayers deserve action, not ads.

Labor is wasting millions of taxpayers’ dollars telling people what they want you to hear.
In fact, they have spent close to $160 million on government advertisements.
We want to ensure every dollar spent is to inform you, not promote the Labor Government.
That’s why a new Liberal Government will halve spending on government advertising.
Because taxpayers deserve action, not ads.
