@MreMOEtional I think ID should be 0 as well. IDs just make it a it a way to game the system. Know you can win in time. Managing the game state and scooping is a skill when you know you can’t win.
Also any unintentional should also be 0 points.

@Vero_TCG So what you’re saying is these meta cards are super inflated in price because the events are minor and they are pretty much entry promos

I think what's being missed from this conversation is the fact Reg qualifiers are nothing in the totem pole of organized play. They are just glorified GPs/Callings/whatever your games call them. They are entry level tournaments that are mildly competitive at best. Wait for more.

Riftbound has a problem. The best players are "forced" to play bad decks to be +EV. There is such a wide gap between Legends/Domains that you're not even playing the same game-leaving your fate up to matchup roulette with close to 0% chance of winning the event. #Riftbound

@SouledOutSoon Competitive games reward maximizing your chance to win the tournament. If the system rewards players who cant realistically win but can farm matchup spreads, that’s not healthy competition. That 30k at 9-4 is a great payout but if thats winning Riftbound isn’t really competitive.

I think Riftbound requires you to redefine how you conceptualize "winning"
Someone from my testing discord went 9-4 and walked out with 30 grand.
Would anyone say that he didn't win that event?
I'll never bring meta to an event as long as best ofs exist.

@MreMOEtional Not playing to win a tournament does seem to be against really the fundamental principles of wanting a competitive card game. TBH I won’t consider riftbound competitive till people are trying to win, not just be the best loser.

I understand I’m in the minority here but like, there isn’t a consideration for me to bring a metal card or “ev hunt” at a major. I just want to win so I’ll play a deck that I think can win. If it happens to win a metal card or is possible to win a metal card, that’s just a bonus. Riot isn’t “forcing” pros to decide between ev hunting or trying to win. Playing in the main event of any card game major has always been bad ev when comparing it to doing things like playing side events, or just working for a weekend.
Like idk why people are acting like they compete in card games for EV. I thought top players compete in card games because of their competitive drive to be the best and win.

@BrycePlatzAGE I think the point isn’t that it’s NOT and competitive format, but that it SHOULDN’T be one. This is the entry point for new players. Let’s make it fun light and quick. Not sweaty and super punishing for mistakes.

@HelpMeJace This is my list too but yellow 4 block cards too in guardians.

@Vero_TCG Sounds like draws need to be losses of both to increase rate of play and get rid of ID.

@TylerBrottonFaB Will you have bulk at calling San Diego for people to purchase to help build Sage decks?

It's been awhile since I did a community interview. PEN being non-draftable has a lot of design thinking that deviates from a standalone set. Content creators DM me your pitch to come on your show and talk PEN design / FAB in general! I'll pick one show #fabtcg
