The first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are among the most sacred and beloved days in Islam. They are days of mercy, forgiveness, worship, and immense reward. Every prayer, every sincere supplication, every act of charity, and every moment spent remembering Allah carries greater value during these blessed days.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.” 📚 Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 969
Allah honored these days in the Qur’an:
“By the dawn; and by the ten nights.”
Qur’an 89:1–2
Many scholars explained that the “ten nights” refer to the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah.
These days are an opportunity to:
• Increase in prayer and remembrance of Allah
• Read and reflect upon the Qur’an
• Give charity generously
• Seek forgiveness sincerely
• Help others with kindness
• Fast during the first nine days if able
• Fast especially on the Day of ‘Arafah
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Fasting the Day of ‘Arafah expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year.” 📚 Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1162
Do not waste these precious days in distraction and heedlessness. Many people who witnessed the previous Dhul-Hijjah are no longer alive today. This may be another chance from Allah to repent, grow closer to Him, and earn His mercy.
Fill your days with:
• Takbir — “Allahu Akbar”
• Tahmid — “Alhamdulillah”
• Tahlil — “La ilaha illallah”
• Tasbih — “SubhanAllah”
May Allah allow us to witness these blessed days, accept our deeds, forgive our sins, and grant us sincerity in worship. Aameen.
