Due to the forecast for heavy rainfall and high wind speeds starting in the afternoon, Richland One schools will dismiss students early Wednesday, August 30, and will operate on a two-hour delayed start Thursday, August 31.

Hooray for books!! The SF PTO has purchased new books for teacher classrooms. These books cover all reading levels, interest levels, and our grade level standards. The students are already enjoying these new additions. Thank you PTO for expanding our classroom libraries!

Our students are getting lots of use of the outdoor classroom this year!

Rounding out our last several weeks, grades 3-5 are beginning their ukulele project in music.

Teacher Tuesday- Jessica Williams (Speech) Students work with me to better articulate their words, to build social skills, or to help w/ reading & writing skills in the classroom. I have been at “the Ford” for 8 years now & I love interacting with a variety of students each day!

2nd graders have been observing caterpillars which have now become chrysalises. They have been moved to their new habitat where they'll emerge as Painted Lady butterflies very soon!

Friday on The Farm: bees We aren't bee keepers but some friendly bees have been spotted swarming around the flowering kale.

3rd gr virtual students are involved in a partnership w/ Richland 4H & Clemson Univ. for a service learning project to design Bee Kind Kits. This partnership is ongoing & students will be planting trees, creating brochures for Clemson Extension and more. Stay tuned!

Teacher Tuesday- Sarah Porter Cornwell I'm originally from Orangeburg. I'm currently in grad school at Clemson University. I think my favorite subject growing up was PE:) Maybe science too... This is my sixth year at Satchel Ford, but my eleventh year total.

Signs of spring at Satchel Ford! A family of cardinals have been spotted outside of the 4th grade hall.

A huge thanks to Mrs. Assaley, Ms. Darby, and Mrs. Smith for all of the work they do for Satchel Ford!

Mrs. Stowe's scientists were investigating mixtures & solutions. They discovered that only gravel separated from the water w/ a screen. They were surprised that powder separated from water by using filter paper. They couldn't separate salt from water...YET!
