We have completed an uncompromising fact-finding inquiry into the shocking events of 18 January 2026 (Mauni Amavasya) during the Prayagraj Magh Mela. Our inquiry reveals that the obstruction of the traditional palki procession of the Jyotirmath Sankaracharya Ji by the administration and police; the public humiliation of the Sankaracharya Ji; the brutal assault on his followers; the degrading treatment of innocent Veda Vidyarthis (Batuks), including dragging them by their shikhas; and preventing Jyotirmath Sankaracharya Ji from taking the sacred Ganga snan on one of Hindu Dharma’s holiest occasions were not isolated administrative excesses. They amounted to a direct assault on Hindu religious dignity, autonomy, and civilisational continuity. This was not crowd management. This was organised State action against a 2,500-year-old Hindu religious institution. What followed was even more alarming: fabricated criminal cases, including POCSO allegations; questioning the legitimacy of the Sankaracharya institution itself; and a systematic attempt to weaken one of the most sacred pillars of Hindu civilisation. Our report irrefutably documents a coordinated and pre-planned abuse of State power directed against Jyotirmath Sankaracharya Ji. The report further exposes a deeper constitutional distortion — relentless State interference in Hindu temples, maths, traditions, and institutions, while Christian and Muslim religious institutions remain substantially insulated from comparable State control. This is not secularism. This is selective State control over Hindu religion. We therefore strongly recommend the creation of an independent statutory Uttar Pradesh Hindu Dharma Parishad, chaired by the Jyotirmath Sankaracharya Ji and comprising representatives of traditional Hindu institutions across sampradayas, to end bureaucratic and political interference in Hindu religious affairs and restore Hindu religious autonomy. Rammohun Roy the so called Sati reformer, hated the fact that his widowed mother Tarini Devi was a devout Hindu who contributed money for "idol worship" in Pujas. When he refused to pay his share from the family's land for contributions to Hindu ceremonies, his mother filed a case through his nephew, which Rammohun easily won due to his links with the British administrators. After winning the case against his mother, Rammohun took over all the property and kicked her out on the streets. His mother had to seek refuge in the temple of Jagannath Puri and died there in wretched conditions in 1822. When Roy's sister in law, Durga Devi also filed a case to recover back some money from family properties - Rammohun again ensured that his influence helped him win the case. He then forced his widowed sister-in-law out on the streets. This is the man who is touted as the savior of widows - but himself ensured that the two widows in his own family were thrown out on the streets and forced to live in wretched poverty after taking over all their property - all in the name of his hatred against "idol worship".
