@ethanhein Taught Commercial Music Theory experimentally as the second semester of our undergrad sequence this spring, with plans to formalize it in the academic catalog as the default second-semester course.

Sure you can watch multi-millionaires throw a ball 25 ft at a hoop for 3 hours. Or you could tune in to the Scripps National Spelling Bee finale tonight!

The 9yr-old: grown-ups are strange these days. Heh...indeed.

School's been out for summer for 50 minutes and my kids are already feral.

Me trying to be a hardened cynical academic and then my 6yo girl brings home a coloring page from kindergarten where she drew in herself and a ladybug.

Told my little girl about the MO House vote to defund libraries and she said we should pray for all the little girls just learning to read who are having their books taken away. Damn if that don't hit you in the pathos.

Tomorrow is shaping up to be Weird Al day in my Commercial Music Theory class.

A few years ago when TX passed laws allowing students to carry on public campuses, the conservative private Baptist college for whom I work reaffirmed it's prohibition of guns on campus. Interesting what happens to policy decisions when there's no sugar momma or fringe to appease
