@GallantD23 Can you clarify what “out of the 66 data centers in NV none of our communities have had an increase in power bills” means?

I was in Revenue Interim Committee yesterday. Tom Burns, director of GOED, reported that out of the 66 data centers in NV none of our communities have had an increase in power bills b/c NV Energy requires that these data centers pay for the infrastructure upfront which is different than those states who bake it into the rates over time.
Joe Lombardo@JoeLombardoNV

I support data centers because they bring jobs, investment, and economic growth to Nevada. At the same time, we have to put the right parameters in place to ensure they don’t raise costs on Nevada residents or businesses. As Governor, I’m focused on growing our economy responsibly while protecting rates for families.

BREAKING: $37.5 billion. That's the total financial relief delivered by fines and fees reform since 2018. Fine and fee reform works - and now we have the numbers to prove it. #TheCostWeNoLongerPay

In a recent article in the Washingtonian Magazine, FFJC Co-Executive Director Priya Sarathy Jones discusses how traffic cameras in DC, and the fines resulting from traffic violations, do little to change the behavior of dangerous drivers.

From Flock cameras, to @CityofReno's AI facial recognition arrests to the Department of Public Safety's warrantless tracking of our movement to the continued push for ATE it is abundantly clear that that our government has 0 interest in protecting our privacy.

Location data captured through apps on your phone may be winding up with police, who can map out the patterns of your life without a warrant. Nevada investigators quietly subscribed to a service this year that does just that. @bella_tweetss reports: thenevadaindependent.com/article/nevada…

Tablets were introduced to Nevada state prisons in 2023 as a resource for those incarcerated. But the state has failed to follow state regulations that would make the tablets more affordable, leaving advocates to fight for basic compliance on established bulk pricing options.

Update in Las Vegas 📣 The Clark County School District has decided to re-evaluate plans to add traffic cameras to school buses, which would ticket drivers who pass by while students get on and off. Here’s why this is a welcome delay 👇

@SteveSebelius @SpeakerYeagerNV @SouthwestAir If you have the card that lets you snag extra legroom seats 48 hours before your flight and you do it, you get to board in the first group and you get pistachios and a free drink. If you don’t good luck!

So, I’ve flown 6 @SouthwestAir flights since the new procedures regarding seats and boarding. The transition hasn’t been great. First, let me say that the airline staff I have interacted with have all been great. And some of them are plenty frustrated too. I have no complaints here. My main complaint is the severe increase in cost. They aren’t cheaper than other airlines anymore. And they are often more expensive. This is disappointing and I may look elsewhere after nearly one hundred flights a year on them for more than a decade. Here are a few simple things they should do to make things better: 1) A list preferred members board in group 1, period, no matter where they are sitting. Why would you do anything less than that for your most loyal customers? 2) Police the overhead bins in the first 5 or so rows. Don’t let people who aren’t sitting there put their bags there. Today when I boarded, those bins were closed (though empty) to discourage folks, but more needs to be done. Either placards saying reserved for the first 5 rows (like first class) or active monitoring by flight attendants. Anything else makes the de-boarding process awful (though it ain’t great on any domestic carrier). 3) Stop making A list preferred members have to watch an ad (T-mobile) to access free wifi. We never had to do that before and it is petty. And improve the wifi. It has somehow gotten worse since the switch. 4) Seriously consider bringing back 1 free checked bag for all passengers. How is it fair to customers who pay to check bags to then offer free gate checks for some arbitrary number of bags to meet a likely made up quota for checked bags? I heard numerous customers complaining about that today. And rightfully so. 5) Lower the damn prices. $600+ for a Las Vegas to Reno round trip seems to be straight up price gouging and ought to be investigated as such. #southwest

@GallantD23 Hot take on my part, just hear me out, maybe the reason that Gen Alpha is not buying homes is that they are between the ages of 2 and 16? But what do I know? I’m unfamiliar with current daycare culture.

Everyone wants a villain to blame for why Gen Z and Gen Alpha are not buying homes, but culture matters too. Many do not want the responsibility of ownership. Renting feels easier. Marriage rates are down, and most people cannot buy a home on one income. Housing affordability is real, but it is not the only factor shaping these decisions. If we want real solutions, we need to talk honestly about culture, economics, and expectations. Support Leaders Who Focus On Real Solutions. Donate here: secure.winred.com/danielle-galla…

The flip flopping on corporate home ownership is a sight to behold. Some people would eat a diet of straight glass if the big guy said he supported it. That being said I hope there is some follow through on ending this awful practice.

Nevada still suspends licenses for unpaid fines & fees, turning court debt into a barrier to basic needs. In Las Vegas, residents told us how unaffordable court debt leads to impossible tradeoffs, missed rent, & the risk of losing their license. 💡 tinyurl.com/yjjhjbc8

Tourism fuels our economy, and Democrats are asleep at the wheel. They let crime surge while visitors and workers pay the price. I’ll fight for law and order, because Nevada’s economy depends on it.
