@PaulTassi Marathon didn't take resources from destiny, Bungie did. The entire impairment loss from the acquisition of bungie was due to the valueing of D2 being too high, Sony lost hundreds of millions touching D2 with a 50 ft pole and that evaluation was years in the making.

The reality is that now, more than ever, people should want Marathon to win. If it can thrive, it can expand in interesting ways, it can give Bungie runway and leeway with Sony for future projects. It's all upside if you want more Bungie games or even more Destiny. Marathon dying from here doesn't help anyone. Though that does not mean I'm going to just cheerlead if things don't turn around

People are interpreting this as some sort of battle cry, but it's the reality that people are upset about Marathon taking away resources from D2, which it did, to launch and perform poorly anyway. This is not subjective, it's what happened. Marathon is certainly not *the* reason Destiny 2 is dissolving. Leadership, lack of foresight, post-TFS plans, layoffs are the main culprits, but it's disingenuous to pretend it's in some separate silo somewhere and isn't involved in this at all.

@reesalasyt @ProWarAdvocate @MarathonGG_ It had nothing to do with destiny's death. If they kept the same quality of work and content coming it was an easy bailout. I said it elsewhere, You could give current D2, 10x the resources of current marathon and it would still not recover. It's death is intentional

@Shribbie @ProWarAdvocate @MarathonGG_ i stated in my original reply that marathon was only a factor of destiny's death. poor management, layoffs, pete parsons, and probably many other things i can't name currently. but when you have insufferable marathon players parading on twitter its hard not to hate it/them.

Destiny died because of neglect. Not because of marathon. The reason sony doesnt wanna save it is cuz the CEO scammed them, bungie was valued at peak destiny 2.

News flash, it was management. They bled destiny 2 dry for money and when the ship started sinking they ditched it. Sony can put as much money as they want...

@PaulTassi Idk if you ever saw the behind the scenes but, for them to edit anything to do with destiny 2 was an immense struggle, it took a lot of time and resources to even edit simple assets on that engine. Engagement farming marathon hate is cringe. Your game died to mismanagement.

@PaulTassi With all due respect, im seeing "marathon this" "marathon that" You know the CEO bled the company dry and fucked off the sinking ship right? Even if you gave bungie 10x the resources marathon had to fix D2 that game would still die. I loved it, but its ancient.

Overall view:
- Destiny 2 probably should have ended with Final Shape with Destiny 3 already incubating
- If Destiny 2 was going to keep existing, it shouldn't have been what we got, which was badly handled
- Marathon siphoned a ton of resources and there is no disputing that
