It would be most welcome to hear more politicians demand that billionaires make a sacrifice for a once, instead of their usual approach of asking the rest of us to squeeze our belts tighter than ever so we can afford even more tax breaks for our oligarchs. #inequality #TaxTheRich

@herewego8745 @FiacconiRichard @CarrieTait @ToddKaighin You and me both (this clone account at any rate). On a somewhat related tangent, ain't it fascinating how quickly Musk stopped caring about bots after promising to purge them from Twitter before going on to fire almost everyone? Almost like bots are part of X's business model...

@herewego8745 @CarrieTait @ToddKaighin Also note the 300,000-plus posts since that account was created in 2022. So in other words, 200-plus posts every single day, on average. Not convinced anyone who spends *that* much time on Twitter should be taken particularly seriously. Probably a bot anyway.

@CarrieTait Also, that account has generated 300,000-plus posts in just four years, or 200-plus daily posts, on average. Yep, seems totally legit!🙄

@Coralie4955 @CarrieTait @hichenwang Wow! 300,000-plus posts over the span of four years, breaking down to a daily average of a whopping 200-plus posts. Yeah, definitely seems *totally* legit!🙄

@SaveStandard @ctvedmonton Either by design or ineptitude, Standard Time was never even presented as a choice in the 2021 referendum, which was apparently an exercise in "democracy".

@ctvedmonton Permanent DST means 9:41am sunrise in Calgary, 9:51am in Edmonton. Voters said NO in 2021. Permanent Standard Time instead is naturally best for health.

@ctvedmonton Will anyone remind the premier we already had a referendum on this issue in 2021? The only options were either DST or status quo; none for Standard. Albertans spoke against DST. Maybe this could be the umpteenth question on the upcoming referendum? What's one more at this point!

@RodKahx @sunlorrie My favourite part is how Harper's Conservatives literally voted *against* banning floor crossing long ago when they had a comfortable majority, because it turns out they don't actually mind at all. So long, of course, as the turncoat joins *their* ranks. youtube.com/shorts/9Qs090G…

EDITORIAL: Carney will get a tainted majority government on Monday Tainted because it will not come through a general election, but through backroom deals between Carney and turncoat Tories Marilyn Gladu, Chris d’Entremont, Michael Ma and Matt Jeneroux. torontosun.com/opinion/editor…

@KaitMarieox "He sacrificed his wealth". Lol. Trump and his buddies are cashing out on broker deals and insider trading like actual thieves, grifting tens of billions of dollars off the backs of American taxpayers and you think he gives a fuck about a presidential salary.

@deo_mister Wait...are you telling me a shameless political turncoat who despite promising to never cross the aisle still went ahead and betrayed her party and constituents for a chance at power, is not actually a bastion of honesty, integrity and accountability?! Shocking!😅

@TheBreakdownAB For a government that cries foul every time “Ottawa interferes” the UCP sure does seem to like doing the same thing to municipalities.

I hope people realize AI search results depend seemingly entirely on the user's prompt. Take anything Google's AI overview tells you with a *huge* grain of salt. Also, this series is unavailable on any other streamers in Canada-or at least in my region-despite what Google says.

@maxfawcett I once read a piece by Murray Dobbin called Ten Tax Myths that dissects the "Canadians are overtaxed" narrative among others, and find it remains very relevant despite being penned in 1999. policyalternatives.ca/wp-content/upl… Also, I delete Fraser Institute pressers soon as I see them.

@TheBreakdownAB The capacity for introspective self-reflection and a willingness to consider constructive criticism are apparently entirely alien concepts to Smith and the UCP. Their whole MO is pretty much exclusively deflect, dismiss, deny (not necessarily in that order).

@DougSaunders Brought to you by those who preach small government (yet created Alberta's largest-ever cabinet) and incessantly complain about federal government overreach. Besides, imagine thinking kids can access at a school library anything remotely resembling the stuff easily found online.

@kim_siever This Liberal government seems to be shaping up to be as inspiring as Starmer's "Labour" government in the U.K.🙄 What's wild is how many partisans will remain convinced these conservative-lite parties are somehow socialists or communists...

“Red tape” is neoliberal code for legislation that protects workers, protects the environment, and protects the general public. So, they want less protection for workers, less protection for the environment, and less protection for the general public?
Mark Carney@MarkJCarney

Canada’s new government has launched a review of federal regulations — to cut the red tape holding back our economy.   It’s time to make government processes more effective so we can build the strongest economy in the G7.

@6079_WSmith @Brcremer This was more like 20-30 years ago when billionaires were still relatively new. Today, as centi-billionaires inch closer to becoming trillionaires, it's more like this:
