Reading firsthand statements from the men who served beside hubby has shattered me a little.... actually A LOT! Not because they described combat, because they described what came home with him.... The hypervigilance. The anger. The drinking. The isolation. The fireworks on July 4th that sent him right back to the IED blast in Iraq. The refusal to seek help because “man up” was drilled into them harder than survival itself. These men carried war home silently for years while the world called them “fine” because they kept showing up to work. PTSD doesn’t always look broken on the outside. Sometimes it looks like beer, dark humor, short tempers, emotional distance, insomnia, and pretending nothing is wrong. I don’t think I truly understood how much of him stayed in Samarra until now. 🥺

This woman was trying to get her mini Highland cow, Dumplin, back into the pen… and he was not having it. He’s always getting out and giving her the cutest hard time. He kept turning around, doing what she called “parkour,” and even seemed to team up with a couple of other cows named Waffles and Kevin Bacon 😭 She was chasing him around and getting more and more exasperated while he just kept being feisty. It’s one of those funny farm moments that reminds you animals definitely have their own personalities — and sometimes they’re in full control of the situation. Have you ever had a pet who was an absolute pro at giving you the cutest (but most stubborn) hard time?
