@sillydilly19624 It felt like some people rushed to make Sebastian "public domain" and personalize him.

@iluvmadmaggie @inquisitrix @xlphen @RakinMinhaz @_GirlSay It would overall be much safer with a doctor's supervision, due to things like dosage errors and such possibly going wrong, as a doctor would have looked through that to check for a safe dosage for them.

@iluvmadmaggie @inquisitrix @xlphen @RakinMinhaz @_GirlSay I do think that hrt should be accessible without medical gatekeeping. I now know this. I thought by DIY, it was meant to just get the stuff yourself. There should be info abt how to safely administer it though when they get it.

@SkepticalMayfly @inquisitrix @xlphen @RakinMinhaz @_GirlSay Please don't engage with this line of reasoning. They are conflating the offensive nature of certain terms with the inappropriateness of those terms. You wouldn't call your boss or an old woman "bro" in RL, but in an informal discussion with a woman in RL or a coworker, you would

@straw_finn @GrumbleSquid @inquisitrix Things can go wrong with DIY approaches. Along with the fact that this person stated that they're a minor, so if found out, this can become an even more dangerous issue if their parents aren't good people.

@SkepticalMayfly @GrumbleSquid @inquisitrix “without knowing what you’re doing” is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. it’s not hard to find out what appropriate dosing and blood levels are. if you get independent blood tests to monitor your levels and vet your sources, DIY isn’t more dangerous than the “legit” route

Tells trans people not to DIY, misgenders women and then goes "I'm non-binary" as if it makes it ok. The parody writes itself. They also thought "DIY" meant surgery, I'm dead. Couldn't be any more of an obvious infiltrator.
Mayfly@SkepticalMayfly

@inquisitrix @xlphen @RakinMinhaz @_GirlSay I'm nonbinary if it helps, and I'm not a republican. Self DIY procedure would be dangerous to anyone. Whether it be from trans surgery or something like knee surgery.

@GrumbleSquid @inquisitrix I only said it's reccomended to have a doctor when approaching hrt rather than do it yourself without kmowing what you're doing.

@SkepticalMayfly @inquisitrix Being anti-DIY and wanting HRT to be restricted to the medical system is transmedicalism. "Drs know best" is gatekeeping rhetoric. Just cause it had a modern progressive coat of paint doesnt make it better than the transmeds of the 2000s.

@inquisitrix If it hurts you? Sure. Some women are hurt by it. Most are not offended by being called bro. But whatever makes you happy

"i CaLL AnYOnE bRo" How curious that you call everyone the word that only hurts a specific group. Almost like you have something against that specific group, or something. Almost like you don't think that group's suffering matters.
Mayfly@SkepticalMayfly

@inquisitrix @xlphen @RakinMinhaz @_GirlSay I didn't know you were a transwoman. Sorry about that. I call anyone bro. Also, even with hormones, doing that yourself is dangerous if you are not instructed how to inject/where to put the patches. Such as accidentally injecting into a vein or messing up with how deep you inject

@inquisitrix The word bro existed with no target towards specific individuals. It can be weaponized, like most words in any language depending on context. That doesn't mean we stop every word because it can be weaponized.

@SkepticalMayfly You are infuriating. "Not agreeing with me" about the harm you cause to a group of people that I'm a part of and you are not is top tier arrogance. You shouldn't have to harm people once and have to tell them to stop before you stop instead of not doing it to begin with.

@inquisitrix Also, yes, it can have mentally damaging effects on some people. That's why it should be respected if someone doesn't wanna be called that. But it shouldn't mean you have to quit the word because it might offend someone if the word wasn't made to harm any group in particular.

@inquisitrix @xlphen @RakinMinhaz @_GirlSay You can't really speak for multiple women that are not you. Also, there are men who get offended by being called bro because they think it's disrespectful or demeaning. If you or any other woman voices that you are hurt by being called bro, they should

@inquisitrix That has no correlation to literal casual terms for people. Please go take a breather, I'm not even trying to be sarcastic or salty abt that.

@SkepticalMayfly You know what else was "used for a long time"? Domestic violence against women. Marital rape. Since when do we give in to misogyny just because it's been done for a long time?

@inquisitrix @xlphen @RakinMinhaz @_GirlSay No one can sense that you'll feel hurt by it until you say something. Again, it was not aimed to be offensive to you or the larger group of women. There are women who say bro to other women and to men.

@SkepticalMayfly Are you new to feminism or something? Let's assume you're just new here. Ask yourself why it is always calling women "bro" and never calling men "sis". Ask yourself why men are considered the default for everything including language.
