APPEAL Those who have my phone number, kindly do not give it out to every person looking for help with school fees. Much as I understand the desperation and wish I could help, I am only an individual human, I cannot handle the entire country’s needs for help. Over 10 to 15 people call me in a day asking for help with fees, sickness, jobs, food and so on … So, when I cannot help, please understand. Today a lady called literally crying about her daughter left with two years of Medicine at KIU, but now totally stranded. I explained that I could not help, but she insisted pleading in tears: ‘May God touch your heart not to leave me like this sir …’. I could feel the pain in her voice, and I was pained too. But I wish I was more than me.

When we had just opened a medical centre in a remote village and were still struggling with low turnout, a sweet blessing came wrapped; A 16yo girl was brought in 'unconscious'. Her father was almost in tears. "This time it's really bad," he said. He explained that his daughter had been having what he called "cardiac attacks." She would suddenly collapse while doing normal activities, lie still for nearly 2hrs, breathing but completely unresponsive. He had taken her to different doctors, sheikhs, local healers and herbalists, and big hospitals, but nothing worked. I asked him to bring all her previous reports. We checked vitals—all normal Auscultations—all clear I started her on intravenous fluids. By the second bottle of saline, she 'regained consciousness.' When the father returned, I asked him to repeat the story while I reviewed the reports. As he spoke, I noticed the girl shyly smirking at every exaggeration. The father kept wiping tears, "I sacrifice a lot to send my children to school. I don't know why this thing won't let my daughter finish at least high school. Every two weeks she's brought back home. She was fine until she turned 15...." The first report was from a popular herbalist who prescribed concoctions to "treat kidney problems and cleanse her blood of toxins." Bill was shs. 600k The second was from a big Catholic Hospital, normal ECG, plus five more tests recommended by the cardiologist. Another shs. 520k I asked the father to wait outside. I looked the girl straight in the eyes and said firmly, almost angrily: "Why are you doing this?"...and other confrontations. She replied dryly, "Why did you give me your fluids if you pity him, won't you bill him too?" I almost pulled out a slap🙄😡 "I told him long ago, I don't want to continue with school, but he insisted. So...." she added totally unconcerned. Long story short, I managed to manipulate her and struck a deal; she "fainted" one more time, I revealed her secrets. We agreed she pretended to be healed. "Act like you're cured." I told her. "Wait until you're 18, then make your own decision as an adult. " From that day, one month passed, two, three—no more fainting episodes. The news spread like wild fire across the villages, we had cured the girl whom witch doctors, herbalists and specialists had all failed to treat. I was donated a big bull from the father 🙄 In the fourth month, she was brought in again this time vomiting since morning. My first thought was, "Do HCG" She was pregnant at 16! She was quickly married off to the father of the baby! Two years later, last week, the same girl called me; She wants two million shillings. If I don't pay, she says she will spill the whole story to everyone, and destroy the name she "helped" build for my clinic. """" Doctor, what do I do? Please keep me anonymous 🙏
