Our most recent model had it’s starting point at the study of the previous prototypes. An innovative feature is the presence of 2 channels above the cockpit that allow for the creation of a low pressure, which reduces the effective weight and the aerodynamic resistance.

A bit of light entertainment for you all.... I thought I would share my report that I did for my university final year. It delves more into the aerodynamics of Stealth III and compares different designs in range of yaw angles with all of the data you can imagine!

The superman-steering is a counterintuitive system. In our car, when pushing the left lever and pulling the right one it turns left, which is the opposite to what happens in bicycles. Despite being odd, this system assured the 2nd place in one of the races from last season!

@TeamBirdGP @PSEM_Portugal Can't tell, but is that a bell crank or a rigid arm coming out of the kingpost on each side? Seems an odd use of the rose joints. Lots of ways of making the steering turn, every car of mine had a different steering system but always turned intuitively ie push left turn right.

@PSEM_Portugal Is that intentional or did you get the links the wrong way round..? If you swapped the link connection and pivot point it would turn traditionally like a bike 🤔 (ps we did something similar with firebird and it was impossible for anyone to drive till we fixed it)

@PSEM_Portugal @TeamBirdGP @pod_movement @cliveallen92 Speaking of low noses, back in the day when I didn't know better and slammed the whole car low. Helmet almost below top of the 16" wheels. Ultimately you tune the nose to work with the rest of the body and with no need for downforce, flat-ish underside works best.

@PSEM_Portugal @Stealth_Racing @pod_movement @cliveallen92 More tech facts, firebird weighs no more than 105kg race weight (with driver and all the tape. But yes alignments help to. Here’s what we used for tracking BlueBird back in 2017 (whilst Gav figures out the championship table on my laptop) and a nice photo from later that day

@pod_movement @cliveallen92 @PSEM_Portugal It's not all about aero though.... Stealth II was 7.5 N at 40mph, but still was relatively 'slow' because of its weight and draggy small wheels. S3 had slightly higher drag but did use the bigger wheels which gave more speed in return.
