@RafHM Where have you obtained those figures? Seems to me that the UK approval rate is entirely inline with EU approval rates, if not lower.

Pure propaganda to suggest they're getting a grip on asylum In 2025, the H.O. approved c. 60%-65% of asylum applications (incl. appeals) Portugal approved only 3% - 8%! Even France only approves c. 40%-50% Crucially, UK approves those who were REFUSED in EU countries The EU average is 36%, almost HALF our 60%-65%. The Home Office's high approval rating is a major pull factor. A significant percentage of certain nationalities (Eritreans, Afghans, Sudanese, Iraqis etc.) apply for asylum in the UK after having their applications rejected by other European nations Disgraceful for the Home Office to try to put a positive spin on this. There is no reason the UK can't be more like Portugal - other than a lack of political and civil service will.
Home Office@ukhomeoffice

Asylum decisions have quadrupled. The asylum backlog is now down from its peak of 175,000 to 49,000 people awaiting a decision - the lowest level since 2019. More decisions mean more asylum hotel closures and more illegal migrants removed or deported.

After 20 hours of deliberation by jury in the retrial of the two brothers at Liverpool Crown Court, the court has announced that a discharge after the jury failed to reach any verdicts regarding the attack on police officers a Manchester Airport. Mohammed Fahir Amaaz (21) and Muhammad Amaad (26) were on retrial for assaulting police officers, including PC Lydia Ward who had her nose broken after getting punched in the face. The jury watched a video of the police officers coming attack but still couldn’t agree on whether the brothers are guilty or not.

When you get a letter for Jury service you are told you are on a list to serve and you shall otherwise blah blah. Then you get "profiled",meaning they check you out. If "suitable" you get picked,if not,you get "sorry but you have not been chosen". I have now explained why the (hand-picked) Jury could not decide,i have watched the full vid and i decided that they indeed smashed that police lady's nose. But i was not "hand-picked" sorry to say

@Desert_Raider9 @visegrad24 Umm, the defendant was convicted for the assault on two of the female police officers. It may be helpful to read the articles.

@visegrad24 The female cops seem to be no match for the plaintiffs who beat them mercilessly. Looks like resisting arrest, aggravated assault on a police officer, and whatever the original reason for the arrest was. It should be an easy conviction.

The right of an individual to “the lawful judgment of his equals” was enshrined in the Magna Carta of 1215. Jury trials form part of the bedrock of our democracy. It would be a historic mistake to limit them now. My piece for @Telegraph 👇🏿 telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/06/2…

Concerns for safety can be legitimate, but celebrating division is another. If communities can’t attend a football match together, that is not a cause for celebration it is a failure of policing and community cohesion. This kind of tone only stokes tensions, not eases them.

I welcome the news that Maccabi Tel Aviv fans will not be permitted to watch the match at Aston Villa! Well done to all those that signed our petition!

This is laughably referred to as a 'tent', and from the front step I can see the same group of lazy hippos I saw from the plane, just round a bend in the river
