@PaulSkallas Disagree - But I go to school in TN, which heavily criminalises weed. People smoke plenty, but it is *not* more popular than alcohol. As for tattoos, 90% don’t have a visible tattoo but I suppose I can’t say they don’t have one. Don’t know a girl with a tattoo at school though…

I met up with a 21 year old female follower last night for drinks. She's in college. I asked her a few questions about her generation. Here is what she said - 90% of the girls at her school have a tattoo - marijuana has eclipsed alcohol as the most common intoxicant

@PhilWMagness How, exactly, does Chris’ post show that Neoliberalism is alive and well? I tend to agree that it’s on its last legs … the Trumpian and ultra progressive currents are threatening it on both sides.

@endofanerajc Depends on time period. In the Early Modern period, especially brutal and especially public punishments did serve a social control function - law enforcement was lacking and most crimes went uncaught. Public executions were like a political way to say “we’re in charge”

this is proven to be false. capital punishment does not deter crime as a whole. like this is blatantly wrong

@SternTeddy They’re not really surprise shows. It’s just the band getting someone up to sit in. It’s a completely spontaneous thing. Just always go to Robert’s after a Ryman show. It may happen, it may not.

Today was the first day we started at 10am at Robert’s. Lemme tell you…it is not easy to sing at 10am. Country music is supposed to be played at night.

@GavinNewsom @GOP They didn't do that at all. Government officials are still required to issue licenses. Non government officials are not required to perform ceremonies. Why would you want an irrational, repugnant bigot officiating your wedding in the first place?

@lvamsgatthebeep Why not just make a new dress? She took a nice looking dress that had been preserved, and ruined it. What’s the point of that? Just start fresh, and leave the original for someone who will appreciate it

@JoshuaHedley I think the issue is that we know that they (people who “don’t like country music”) have probably only heard the really shitty stuff on the radio. So at least I feel some duty to say “hey, there’s a lot out there that isn’t what you dislike, and that’s actually real country”

Is country music the only genre where it’s fans just refuse to accept that someone might not like it? Like what’s with that? You never hear people being like “well you just haven’t heard enough GRINDCORE. There’s more to GRINDCORE than what’s on the radio.”
