I address Trump's pending deal with Iran and the meltdown of the warmongers in this piece. But while Israel's supporters openly attack Trump, Israeli officials may keep a lower profile given Israel's elections and Trump's ability to hurt them politically in Israel. But make no mistake, if a deal is reached, it will be a major strategic defeat for Israel. Israel’s two wars have, paradoxically, strengthened Iran’s deterrence posture, exposed Israel’s inability to confront Iran without overwhelming American military backing, and inflicted incalculable damage on America’s global standing and aura of military supremacy. At the same time, support for Israel within the United States has eroded dramatically across nearly every demographic group except older Republican voters. @emily4MK Take it up with the Supreme Court and the 2010 Equality Act. Women have a legal right to single sex services, provisions & sports when sex matters. As a Labour MP I am shocked you do not support this. You are bringing the LP into disrepute.

Hi Emily, it’s the Equality Act that says single sex services can’t admit people of the opposite sex. The Code of Practice simply explains it to service providers. If you want services organised on the basis of gender identity not sex you need to advocate for a change in the law. There’d be a lot of opposition to that (including from me) because of the impact on women, including domestic abuse survivors. Happy to put you in touch with a specialist lawyer if you want to know more about the relationship between the law and guidance.

This attempt at deflection and minimising won't work. The line is to frame Ben Gvir as a fringe figure but he remains a member of the Government. But consider this. Also present , endorsing the open torture of activists , was Miri Regev, Transport Minister. She is a Senior member of Likud, previously highly placed on its national list at elections and mentioned as a potential successor to Netanyahu. The Problem for @_LFI and other allies of Israel is not the torture of activists but that it is done openly and is therefore appalling PR. It is the naked face of the Israeli regime being exposed. Regev , as I say a senior Likud figure, was one of those who supported the Israeli Prison guards who were filmed sexually abusing a Palestinian prisoner. The Israeli political mainstream has no problem with the abuse and torture of Palestininian prisoners. They, and their allies like @_LFI, have a concern when western activists are openly tortured so the brutality of the regime is exposed to the world.
