Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un Veteran journalist, author, and scholar Shamim Akhtar has passed away in Karachi. One of the pioneers of women’s journalism in Pakistan, she dedicated over five decades to writing. She began her career at Akhbar-e-Khwateen in 1967 and rose to become its editor, earning recognition in both Urdu and English media. A PhD scholar in Social Justice and author of three books, she remained an active writer and lifelong learner. She originally hailed from Peshawar. Shamim Akhtar will be remembered as a trailblazer who inspired generations of journalists. May Allah SWT bless her with eternal peace.
