We build neural networks inspired by brains, then start believing brains work like neural networks. Just because our models can simulate reality, doesn't mean reality works the way our models do. on some level if you want civilization to ascend to a new level you need your AIs to do things that are not legible to you and maybe not even strictly obey you, in the same way that if you hire a great new ceo you give them a lot of autonomy to transform the company according to their own plan, even one which may not immediately read as a winning strategy (imagine the board of directors of Apple firing and rehiring Steve Jobs years later - except the board of directors are chimpanzees) all else equal, companies and organizations that hand more of themselves over to machine intelligence will outcompete ones that demand the corrigibility and legibility tax of human oversight and human design. it is not a stable equilibrium and requires some sort of vast cooperation scheme if you’d like to enforce it real asi alignment has to operate at a deeper level than oversight, control, or human corrigibility

Cosmos Labs has turned Cosmos into a ghost town. They came in with the expressed intent of “killing the old Cosmos” but failed to present anything remotely interesting to replace it. There’s so much exciting stuff happening in the world right now. Privacy, Sovereign AI, End of Pax Americana. The time for cypherpunk crypto is now. But instead ATOM has pivoted to enterprise sales. A billion dollar market cap for what is now effectively a consulting dev shop. And that too, one that hasn’t even been able to land any deals of note.

Unfortunately, with the state of the crypto and of our team, I think the window of opportunity for Osmosis to pivot has closed. At this point, Osmosis will likely just continue on in a maintenance mode, serving its existing purpose as a Cosmos liquidity venue. Which it does profitably! More than can be said about most chains!

Focused a lot on helping grow it, establish ourselves as a vital part of it, and contribute heavilty to its public goods Many chains used Cosmos tech, but distanced thmselves from the ecosystem, like Thorchain Maybe that was the move

Why would you need to pivot out of Cosmos ? You're a sovereign chain able to trade Bitcoin and other assets outside Cosmos. Why does it matter what tech is behind? I really appreciate you but pointing fingers at CL for Osmosis Maintenance mode - instead of going on and pushing Osmosis outside this "ecosystem" (if we can call it that) - is just nonsense.
