BREAKING 🚨 | As Britain's first heatwave of 2026 begins, the TUC is calling for a maximum working temperature to protect workers.
Workers should be able to stop work above 30°C, or 27°C for those doing strenuous jobs.
With heatwaves becoming more common, we need new laws on maximum working temperatures, cooler workplaces, and climate action to reduce global heating.

@The_TUC I’m sorry there’s no food on your shelves in the supermarket but it’s above 27° in the warehouse & the employees have had to stop working. I can see this working well 🙄 What about kitchens, construction sites etc - does everything just stop? How long have we got left of Labour?

I was confident I could of played a major part this summer for my country after the season I’ve had. I’ve been left shocked and gutted by the decision.
