@Taity813112 @DreyfusJames If we're picking 'sides' (I wasn't, just explaining) you don't see headlines 'Cat kills child' but you do see headlines 'Dog kills man'. I'm sorry you have no empathy for the tiny terrified animal because it's not your preferred species. I'm muting your obtuse obnoxious prejudice

This Labour government had a chance to change direction on Trans rights. It was elected with a huge majority, and they simply doubled down on far-right anti-science, anti-trans nonsense. As an LGBT+ person, I will never forgive the party for that. Ever.

barely been 24 hours since that EHRC bullshit and i've had men try to tell me off about toilets only for the women in there to swarm the guy and tell him to fuck off the system might be against us, but the people are there for us. don't ever give up 💚

If trans women use men’s toilets, they will be subjected to humiliation, abuse and violence. Anyone with any sense knows this. Which is why in practice trans women will not use men’s toilets, and will just increasingly be driven out of society.

@LordWalney No one has considered 2nd order effects. Any cis-man can now enter these "Single sex women's spaces" claiming they are a trans-man (bio-female) and the new law demands they be there.

Not the side I usually fall on, but am really troubled by implications of this for many trans people who will be at greater risk if they simply switch public bathrooms as currently constituted. I hope there is a way that women’s right to single-sex spaces can be delivered without putting others at greater risk

@Roger_____Hardy @besslilburne @WendyEMorton It's a vague article by someone with a vested interest and bias on the issue at stake with a donate button at the top of the link. She doesn't show any of her sources or where she gets this info from. Seriously you need to let it go and accept the UK knows what a woman is.

@Roger_____Hardy @besslilburne @WendyEMorton Yes because they have so much in common don't they? The unite the kingdom rally as far as I know was about immigration and not trans rights? We live in the UK where people have the right to have any political belief they want. Who gives a shit who attends what rally anyway?

@Roger_____Hardy @besslilburne @WendyEMorton Clearly it makes you feel better thinking that this is all some right wing nightmare imported from the US. You think Labour are being controlled by them also? Britain leads the way and if anything the US is behind us when dealing with perverted men invading women's spaces

@Stsantek Bullshit, That's not how society works. Every adult could drink 2 Beers and drive from London to Edinburgh without incident but because some lunatic drinks a bottle of vodka and kills a family we can't. Everyone accepts that, so trans people should accept the law as well.

Why must the law be involved in everything? Can’t trans women (and indeed some trans men) just use women’s loos when it feels appropriate, and if someone is being a creep why would we need the law to say that it’s because of their biological sex that we want them to fuck off ? That’s where some trans activists really fucked it because they cried transphobia when bad people were caught red handed doing bad things. Trying to clarify everything using the law was a terrible idea. Society, even the most progressive ones, are still ironing out the details. It backfired just like #MeToo, BLM and other cancel culture adjacent projects. On changing rooms trans people should be allowed to use their judgement. Often public attention focuses on the cases of people who are socially unpleasant regardless of being trans but the trans people I know, had a good instinct of when, where and how to move on with their public identity, for their own comfort as much as others. I am aware of cases of people who didn’t, but they were dicks anyway. So if they weren’t causing havoc that way, they would have found another! Fuck those assholes for ruining it for everyone! No need to obsess over people’s genitalia, most know that they should not be naked around children if theirs differ. But most importantly, people should remember that most trans people don’t want to be naked in the public and will actively avoid these settings. Most need encouragement to not be ashamed, rather than to be told they need to cover up. There are very few who do, AND who will have recurring times in their life where they will need to share a public changing room. If someone acts in bad faith, as has happened, people should be able to tell them off without needing lawyers involved. For VAWG shelters obviously we need to have domestic abuse ones for trans people and for young boys too who are now being turned away. Let’s have more of them! For men too! They too are victims! On sports it’s more complicated, but in the end having a tiny number of MtF trans people not be able to compete on the highest level is not a tragedy when you consider how much it offends people sense of justice. Edge cases will exist, let’s cross that bridge when we get to it! All of these things could be so much better negotiated if we didn’t constantly need the full wrath of the law to fall on our respective enemies. Like that gay cake US Supreme Court case where a gay couple sued a Christian baker who refused an order for their gay wedding, it wasn’t a gay cake that they wanted and couldn’t find elsewhere but **respect**. And they will simply not get that by dragging every single older or religious person through the court system till they feel their sense of self is rectified. They will just get more resentment, as we are seeing now. My mom is a massive homophobe, who loves saying hurtful stuff in front of me to get back to me for abandoning her in Greece, but i don’t need her to wrap herself in the rainbow flag to accept her. I am just happy she helps my gay friends, hosts and cooks for them and encourages them to form families just as she encourages me, because that’s what she believes is good and wants what’s good for them too. That’s good enough for me. No need to engage the law to either force her to use different language or to validate her specific view of the world.

@davestokes66 @CurtisDaly_ If all trans people have to use the bathrooms of their biological sex, that will mean trans women (biological women) having to use women's bathrooms. To which they could now be barred if women find their presence concerning (because they look like men).

@donmcgowan I completely agree with you. Racism had almost vanished from the terraces in late 90s, early 2000s and it felt like we had moved forward. Tories coming in felt like they legitimised racism again through their rhetoric and open hate speech towards “foreigners”

The step regression of the UK's underclass is just so depressing. I am 51 and as a football obsessed kid in the late 70s, 80s and 90s, I witnessed a clear reduction in the racist bullshit in football. Genuine, serious progression. Now, I'm not naive enough to think that the racists went away or changed their views, but it became an unacceptable trait within the game and things changed so much for the better. Now, in 2026, with the rise of Reform UK and Ruprecht's Restore, we see these vile characters, openly espousing racism again. Taking pride in their bigotry. ☹️ Where did we go so wrong, as a nation?
Lucy White@lucyjaynewhite1

Harry Maguire, who is English and Northern Irish… … has been demographically replaced in the England World Cup team by an African named ‘Addji Keaninkin Marc-Israel Guéh’ born in Ivory Coast. What’s the point in a ‘national’ football team if someone who is NOT from that nation can join? Maguire should play for England. Guéh should play for Ivory Coast. Common sense. I’m sure Maguire isn’t even allowed to contest this decision because, as his shirt says in the photo below, ‘no room for racism’.
