I found this information very helpful and useful. beaconhouse.org.uk/trauma-and-att…

@Talk_Adoption Share your pain.
Our 12 yo managed 1.5 terms of secondary school before being booted out (handcuffed into a police van on one occasion) and is now in a pupil referral unit.
English

So 12yo thinks its not his fault that he's in seclusion twice in 1 week and gets an hour's detention to top it all off. I got the usual it's not my fault and you won't believe that! I'm frustrated beyond belief!

@frogotter We've just been given a therapist so she's going in to do some training hopefully
English

@Talk_Adoption Oh, dear. Would the school listen to a social worker, if you brought bone in to talk to them? When school goes wrong, it affects everything.
English

@WordyRamblings I always sit with him and calm him. He's 12 and still likes sitting on my knee and being rocked. I am so thankful for your messages
English

@WordyRamblings It's a frustrated response. But at the same time I believe its due to something that's happened before and he's not been listened to or believed 🙁
English

@WordyRamblings I've printed out info and handed it over to his teacher (about trauma and ptsd)
English

@WordyRamblings Of course I believe him and I support him 100%

So adult adoptive parent thinks it's not his fault that he overshares to the social media world about his minors.
But as usual, he won't believe that!
Perhaps he could read books & studies on #adoption trauma in order to help his son, instead of slagging a child off on Twitter...

@hiomhair @akaalison1 @LittleMorbid13 @aitheantas I 100% do and always want to support them and will support them in finding birth mum too.
English

@LittleMorbid13 @akaalison1 I'm sorry she didn't believe u! A child should always be listened to!
English

@Talk_Adoption @akaalison1 About the abuse her husband did to me even though he’s admitted it to her! She’s now gone around to people telling them I’m crazy and on hard drugs only to discredit my lived trauma in an effort to clean up their family image. I’ve NEVER been believed.. so that sentence struck me
English

@JenStevie1 @hiomhair @LittleMorbid13 @akaalison1 Excuse me! I'm not infertile! Again narrow mindedness!!
English

@akaalison1 @hiomhair @LittleMorbid13 @KZapponeTD In a portfolio!! That's horrific!! I can't belief they would even do that! Adopted children are still normal children. They should be treated like all other children and not made to feel shamed in any way! Your government needs to shake it up a bit!
English

@Talk_Adoption @hiomhair @LittleMorbid13 Tell @KZapponeTD who is the 'minister of children and youth affairs', I kid you not! She is our alleged public representative. 🙄😒
Adopted adults are insulted & interminably infantalized, by being placed in the CHILDREN & YOUTH portfolio of government!?!
You couldn't write it!
English

@akaalison1 @hiomhair @LittleMorbid13 @aitheantas We traced birth parents for a friend of ours who is in their 70s now and he got put up for adoption by a church. The church is no longer in service so he can't get any paperwork.
English

@Talk_Adoption @hiomhair @LittleMorbid13 @aitheantas Ireland signed up for that too and the government is allowing for that, as the proposed #adoption bill will give new adoptees those rights, rights to identity...but not existing adult adoptees!?!
English

@akaalison1 @hiomhair @LittleMorbid13 I don't agree with how they've handled that for u! You should have had the name of parents and a date of birth at least!
English

@Talk_Adoption @hiomhair @LittleMorbid13 Nothing...zero. I knew nothing about myself until I turned 18 and a social worker 'let me know' a tiny bit of what's called, non-identifying information. Then no more for years when I was told my birth mother had children through her marriage, then nothing for over a decade...
English

@akaalison1 @hiomhair @LittleMorbid13 My children have 2 sets of birth cirtificates on record. They have their original (so they can trace back) and they have another issued with their new surname. So they can see both. They have life books too, which gives them info about their birth, weight, mums name etc
English

@Talk_Adoption @hiomhair @LittleMorbid13 Good!
Equality for all! No altering birth certs, no denial of rights & privileges or active prohibiting of our own info including our identities.
Secrecy adds to the shame and adds to the stigma.
Less redaction...
More proaction!
#adopteevoices loud & proud!
English

@akaalison1 @hiomhair @LittleMorbid13 @aitheantas It's about time that all changed! See we had our human rights policy updated which involves Every child matters (this gives every child a voice)
English

@Talk_Adoption @hiomhair @LittleMorbid13 Ireland. Adoption laws have not been altered since 1952. W
Adopted people are treated as second class citizens.
@aitheantas which is Irish for Identity, have an online petition everyone should sign & share to give adoptees equality in 21st century Ireland...finally & necessarily!
