@kendallrosephoto got to capture these spectacular images of pelagic thresher sharks in Fuvahmulah. Their signature whip-like tails aren’t just for show, they use them to stun prey with incredible precision.

Encounters like this are pretty rare, since clams rely on thick shells and symbiotic algae rather than movement or active defense. For what it’s worth, though, it’s likely the clams were already dead and the sharks were just scavenging. Video by @salty.sunrises

Very few people have ever witnessed a shark giving birth in the wild. These events often occur in remote or protected nursery areas, far from human presence. Video via /yourSAS on Reddit

We still don’t have all the answers when it comes to sharks, and that should matter to all of us. If we want to protect them, we need to understand them. Right now, we are just getting started.

A shark where we never expected one… Antarctica’s freezing depths. Moments like this make it clear: deep-sea mining should not move forward yet. We are only beginning to discover what exists in these depths, and rushing in could wipe out fragile ecosystems.

Every time you order shark, you're funding finning. Every time you skip it, you're not. It really is that simple. Swipe to see what else deserves to stay in the ocean — not on your plate. #seafood #overfishing #sharkconservation

Earth doesn’t just have sharks — it needs them. They keep ocean ecosystems in balance, and without sharks, the ripple effects would reach far beyond the sea. This Earth Day, remember: protecting sharks means protecting Earth. #EarthDay

By the time you finish reading this sentence, dozens of sharks have already been killed. The scale of the destruction is almost impossible to wrap your head around: 11,000 sharks are killed every single hour. 274,000 sharks every single day. [Repost @seaspiracy]

Shark eyes can see clearly in near-total darkness — they have a reflective layer behind the retina, that amplifies even the faintest light. Fifty years of fear taught us to see monsters. Look closer, and you'll find one of nature's most extraordinary visual systems staring back.
