Viktor Orbán has been a very consequential PM - probably the most consequential Hungary has ever had. The economy has strengthened, the city of Budapest has been transformed, and Hungary’s family policies and determination to keep its culture have been studied around the world. He and I differed on Ukraine but I thought he was dead right to defy the EU, on illegal immigration especially. Why should a sovereign nation be bullied by Brussels into policies that would jeopardise its future as a distinct people? Under Orbán, Budapest became something of a haven for conservative intellectuals. This has been a significant point of soft power for Hungary and I don’t expect the new government will want that to change.

Curse of Private Equity
Morrisons to close 100 stores.
Blames govt, silent on PE looting.
PE loaded company with £6.6bn debt, cut staff, sold-off petrol stations, indulged in sale and leaseback of assets, extracted returns.
PE devouring high street.

Looks like I'm gonna call off my summer trip to Barcelona. Think I will spend my hard earned money someplace else on vacation. Anybody with me on this?

The Abraham Global Peace Initiative (AGPI) condemns the actions of Pedro Sánchez, who has crossed every diplomatic line by withdrawing Spain’s ambassador from Israel while reopening its embassy in Tehran. His call on the European Union to suspend its Association Agreement with Israel further underscores a deeply troubling and one-sided agenda. Such moves reflect a profound moral inversion at a time requiring clarity and leadership. His harsh anti-Israel rhetoric says far more about his political posture than it does about Israel. AGPI urges Spain to reconsider this dangerous course.

We have this Green party leader dancing around like a demented numpty and Lib Dem leader Ed Davey mounting one stupid stunt after another. Polls currently give them around 35% of the vote combined. No wonder we are increasingly regarded as not a serious country. Because we’re not.

I’m absolutely consistent. I’m against Muslims praying in Trafalgar Square, and I’m against whatever the f*** this is.

I’m fully aware that this job requires tons of travel and crazy hours, but it does indeed bug me that I’m here in DC at 11:30pm voting (for the 4th time!) to fully fund the Homeland budget and missing my kids hoops game tomorrow morning back in Washington because the Senate pulled their BS stunt last night. 🇺🇸

@M_S_Billingslea @NATO Oh do Foxtrot Oscar. Trump has lead your nation into a disaster. Sack Private Bonespurs

President Trump’s frustration with @NATO nations is understandable. It should be directed at the deadbeats in Western Europe, not at NATO as a whole, & certainly not at our Eastern European allies (who “get it”).
NATO absolutely needs reform. Here are 4 measures that would bring real pressure on free-loading countries without damaging the Alliance as a whole:

Following Monday’s visit by the Reform party and its leader, Nigel Farage, the club would like to issue the following statement:
Ipswich Town Football Club has, over several years, hosted representatives from a range of political parties. The club remains apolitical and does not support or endorse any individual or party.
The club will continue to engage with representatives from across the political spectrum as part of its role within the community.
Ipswich Town is proud to be an inclusive, diverse, and welcoming organisation that supports all members of the local and wider community. This commitment remains unchanged.
