Are we REALLY trying to say that people who use sex toys are degenerates? I mean damn, I thought we lived in a free country where as long as you weren't hurting people you could do whatever you want. I'm honestly trying to figure out why this even a talking point? It's so irrelevant. Like, when selecting a Secretary of State, there should be TWO factors. Who is the most qualified to do the job and who will do the job the most honestly. David Shelton is the ONLY candidate who fits BOTH of those. Being a County Clerk gives him DIRECT experience with overseeing elections, just at a smaller scale than the SoS. And he has been awarded Indiana Clerk of the Year in the past, so obviously he is good at his job and hasn't had any scandals of note. No offense to Max, but he doesn't have NEARLY that level of a resume. And when it comes to the campaign, Shelton has been the one campaigning and meeting delegates for the past year. Max literally JUST filed and the establishment is ALREADY trying to anoint him the savior of the election. Maybe by the convention Max will convince me otherwise, but right now it seems to me that the CLEAR, OBVIOUS, and COMMON SENSE nominee for the Republicans is David Shelton.

This is what competitive elections do: create accountability where there hasn't been any before. Our presence has already changed the trajectory of this race. Both parties are now adjusting because of the Ballard campaign. The same Republicans who just months ago proudly endorsed Diego Morales have suddenly determined he’s not fit to be their party's nominee. His issues were not a secret, but party insiders have been more concerned about protecting the Indiana GOP than the good people of this state. Sadly, that has not changed. On the Democratic side, Beau Bayh acknowledged in an interview released today that “[Secretary of State] really should be a nonpartisan role” and that “one of the biggest problems in our politics... is the strident partisanship that we've seen kind of grip our politics.” He also said, “We are trying to... have an independent voice in our Statehouse.” If he keeps talking like that, he might start getting mistaken for a slightly more handsome version of me. I’m proud that my campaign is already changing the conversation and creating the accountability Hoosiers so desperately need. Our team is more energized than ever.

I’ve known Diego since his first month in office, he’s been nothing but a good friend, and even with the media against him, he still does what he thinks is right. That said, Max is a young, smart conservative who has everything we need and more to be a great SOS and win.
