हर मुद्दे की तरह जिमख़ाना क्लब को लेकर भी दिल्ली का संभ्रांत वर्ग दो खेमों में बँट गया।
एक वह ख़ेमा है जो जिमख़ाना क्लब के पक्ष में है।
और दूसरा वह जो सरकार की कार्रवाई का समर्थन कर रहा है।
हालाँकि कार्रवाई के पक्ष के लोगों की संख्या अधिक है।
इसका एक बड़ा कारण यह भी है कि उनमें से अधिकांश की जिमख़ाना क्लब की सदस्यता लेने की इच्छा पूरी नहीं हो सकी।
यहाँ सदस्यता के लिए लंबी लाइन है। पंद्रह से तीस वर्षों तक की प्रतीक्षा करने को कहा जाता है।
यानी आप साठ साल की आयु में आवेदन करें तो हो सकता है आपको नब्बे वर्ष की आयु में सदस्यता मिले।
तब उस सदस्यता का आप क्या करेंगे?

NYT has got the framing right.
The single reason why Trump imposed tariffs on India for buying Russian oil, and did not in case of China, the biggest buyer, or America's European allies, is that he was mighty pissed at New Delhi denying him the fake credit for India-Pakistan ceasefire.
The reason is so incredibly petty, so utterly devoid of rationale or common sense that analysts, journalists and the like have offered all sorts of reasons, but the obvious one.

Lalu Prasad Yadav tried to take over the Patna Golf Club. He has long gone from power but the club continues. Will be interesting to see how this one plays out.

Centre has issued an order for re-entry and resumption of the historic Delhi Gymkhana Club land at Safdarjung Road, New Delhi, citing public purpose, defence infrastructure and national security considerations. The government has asked the Club to hand over possession of the property by June 5, 2026.

Some of the finest tennis matches have been played here. So much history, so many memories, and generations of sporting excellence are associated with this place.
The Delhi Gymkhana Club is not just a property — it is part of our institutional and sporting heritage. Change may be necessary, but history and legacy deserve thoughtful preservation.
We can plan to add something new there too…
