Apparently, there are multiple drivers per car for testing purposes, allowing @Tesla to clock in more hours per day. They are doing whatever they can to get this done and to get FSD approved 😍 In the meantime, there are already 20 million km driven on FSD supervised since approval. This is scaling exponentially 📈

Isn't the counterargument to be made with the Tesla analogy: Tesla launched EVs with no real competition and strong pricing power. New entrants now face a dominant low-cost giant immediately, causing huge cash burn from day one. So anyone who tries to compete with SpaceX will not find the customers who are willing to pay more for a less reliable service. So R&D/Capex could be matched, the market is now different when SpaceX started.

After reviewing SpaceX's S1 filing we can definitively say that SpaceX's lifetime investment (Capex+R&D) in space technologies amounts to $20 billion to $25 billion. In other words, with the benefit of 2026/2027 technology, a follower should be able to replicate SpaceX's current launch capability, including Starship, for the same or less investment.
Also, the many publicly available technical details and SpaceX design choices should meaningfully cut down trial/error cost of any follower.

This is probably why the Model S/X Signature Edition delivery event was postponed. The event would conflict with the China trip, and considering this is the first U.S. President trip to China in a decade, and if Elon really was invited to come, it makes sense prioritize that.

Just wondering: how is our government able to test/verify FSD in such a short timespan?
Which department/operators/qualified engineers are going to determine it is safe enough on our streets and which metric are they going to use? Tesla Belgium going to provide some testcars and drive around some politicians to convince them?

Work in progress. Let's hope they can conclude testing within only a few weeks to still get FSD by the end of the month and before the general EU approval perhaps end of June. 🤞

Small update regarding Full Self Driving Supervised in Belgium.🇧🇪 As posted by @AnnickDeRidder Some additional testing was demanded by Flanders Homologation. They are currently working hard on the administration and execution of these tests. Rollout of FSD in Belgium is still scheduled to be initiated as soon as possible. Stay tuned!
