The primary duty of the state is to keep people safe & that is also the primary duty of those of us who legislate. That overriding concern should transcend party politics or point scoring. I have asked the PSNI for an update on this barbaric attack. Do not share the awful video.

A Belfast man who went to an auction to support a friend, and ended up spending £90,000 on a library, says he wants to use it as a cross-community space and ‘create a new Northern Ireland’.
Carnegie Oldpark Library is a historic 1906 Carnegie‑funded building in north Belfast, created to bring learning and opportunity.
Largely unused since its 2010 closure, it is now the focus of a community‑led restoration project.
Quintin Oliver, who grew up in east Belfast and now lives in the south of the city, told The Irish News that Carnegie’s aspirations inspired him when he happened to buy the historic building.

As an MP representing a constituency of 112,00 people, people with very diverse views and life experiences, I work every day to try and bring people together by leading and showing positive example by going everywhere in Lagan Valley. I certainly don't please everyone all of the time and that's not the aim. But we have an important role in working for all and showing good example. Standing in a crowd with people covering faces with masks or scarves whilst the crowd shout obscenities and abuse is not something we should be anywhere near, never mind in the middle of. We all have a role to play in providing positive leadership and this falls shockingly short of it.
