Audi A2 at the time took efficiency to a whole different level. The car is as efficient as any modern car. Extremely aerodynamic shape and the body is what made it futuristic. Nothing else on the road looked remotely like it. Even the proportions felt unusual, the tyres are narrower for better aerodynamics. The A2 looked more like a concept car accidentally put into production. The engine sizes aren't even what you usually find, sizes from 1.2 to 1.6 L And honestly, it still looks futuristic today because of the odd shape. Especially compared to normal early-2000s hatchbacks. This example has the 1.4 L 16v petrol inline-4 with 75 hp, not a huge number but the fuel consumption. 6.0 L/100 km or 39.2 mpg. Its not a lot, but the TDI models consume half of that.

Porsche 911, 996. Water-cooling and the shape that has defined the modern 911. 996 is when the Porsche 911 became a modern car and the shape has remained similar until today for almost 3 decades. Fried-egg headlights are the controversy and its the reason its not as lowed as other 911's. 34 years of traditional 911 design that got destroyed when this came out. The 911 no longer felt like it came from the 1960s, Porsche decided its better they shared the platform with the boxster, because they had to. People hated how modern it looked at first with electronics in the interior being more common and with wedged shapes and slopes. But the 996 quietly introduced the design language Porsche would keep using for decades. Smoother body and more modern proportions. Looking back now, it was far ahead of what people expected a 911 to become.

Volkswagen Arteon. For a VW its a very premium car, the look of the car, the shape looked so futuristic a decade ago. Full-width grille design integrated daytime running lights that later became a trend by today. Long fastback proportions with frameless windows. Minimalist interior layout, its still a VW so its not super premium, but it feels what VW did in the early 2000s giving certain trims premium essence. It looks more expensive and more modern than almost every other Volkswagen next to it. The lighting design and proportions gave it a near-concept-car feel compared to ordinary saloons. It looked like Volkswagen trying to design something from the next decade.

🇩🇪 1994 Porsche 968 Turbo S 1 of only 14/16 175 mph 0-60 4.7 secs 305 Bhp 1,300 kg The 1994 Porsche 968 Turbo S is one of the rarest and most performance-focused models in Porsche’s history. Often overshadowed by the 911 of the era, it represents the ultimate evolution of the front-engine, transaxle platform. The Turbo S was a road-legal version of the 968 Turbo RS race car. Porsche intended to bridge the gap between their entry-level models and the 911, but the project was short-lived due to internal concerns about the 968 outperforming the flagship 911 (993) Carrera. To maximise agility, Porsche stripped the interior of "luxury" items like rear seats, power windows, and central locking. It weighed significantly less than a standard 968. Aerodynamics It featured a distinctive adjustable rear wing, a deeper front splitter, and "NACA" ducts on the hood for cooling. Mechanical Grip It utilized a lowered suspension (by 20mm), reinforced chassis, and the iconic 18-inch "Speedline" three-piece wheels. The Engine Choice Interestingly, Porsche chose the 8-valve head from the 944 Turbo rather than the 968's standard 16-valve head, as it was deemed more durable for high-boost applications at the time. While the 911 remains the icon of the 1990s, the 968 Turbo S proved that the front-engine layout was capable of supercar-level performance, offering nearly perfect 50/50 weight distribution and a torque curve that made it a formidable track car This car was at auction in 2025 but didn’t sell. 🔗 rmsothebys.com/auctions/mi25/… 📷 @rmsothebys 👏🏻👏🏻 #cars #porsche #germany #turbo

Nine billion miles of driving data just became a chip. Tesla AI5 is finalized for production. The design files are at Samsung in Texas and TSMC in Arizona. The transistors are locked. There is no going back. Tape-out is the hardest gate in semiconductor engineering because everything before it is reversible and everything after it is silicon. How this particular chip was designed is the most interesting part. Nvidia builds general-purpose GPUs. They pack transistors into a full-reticle die, ship it with CUDA, and let customers figure out which operations matter. Blackwell B200 delivers 4.5 petaFLOPS at up to 1,000 watts. It runs any model for any customer. That generality is the moat and the tax. Every workload pays for circuits it never uses. Tesla designed AI5 backward. They started with 9 billion miles of FSD inference data and asked one question: where does the neural network waste cycles? The answer was softmax computation and quantization precision loss. Two specific mathematical operations that consume disproportionate silicon area and power in every general-purpose GPU on Earth. Operations that Nvidia cannot optimize away because other customers need those transistors for different workloads. Tesla hardened them. Burned custom quantization and softmax accelerator blocks directly into the die. Five times more efficient on those operations than any general-purpose equivalent. Then they added 10 times the raw compute and 9 times the memory capacity relative to AI4. The result: a single AI5 system-on-chip delivers roughly 5 times the useful compute of the current dual-chip AI4 configuration at an estimated 250 watts. Musk has framed a single AI5 as Nvidia Hopper class and dual AI5 as Blackwell class for Tesla workloads, at 3 to 5 times better power efficiency and roughly 10 times better performance per dollar. This is not a chip designed to compete with Nvidia. This is a chip designed to run one thing: the learned differentiable physics engine that emerged from 9 billion miles of camera observation. Every transistor serves that engine. No wasted silicon. No generality tax. The neural network wrote its own hardware. The chip goes to two foundries. Samsung in Taylor, Texas. TSMC in Arizona. Both American. Musk thanked both this morning and added: “It will be one of most produced AI chips ever.” Samples arrive late 2026. Volume targets H2 2027. In the same post, Musk confirmed AI6, Dojo3, and “other exciting chips” are in active development. The 9-month cadence is real. AI6 targets tape-out by December. Dojo3 restarts on the unified architecture after Musk shut down Dojo2 last August as an “evolutionary dead end.” Intel joined Terafab eight days ago for advanced packaging. The $16.5 billion Samsung deal runs through 2033. The chip that taped out this morning is not a product. It is the physical crystallization of 9 billion miles of learned physics into transistors optimized for the exact mathematical operations that physics requires. The software trained on the road. The silicon was designed from what the software learned. And the factory that will mass-produce it is being built in the same city where the cars that generated the training data roll off the line. The loop is closed.

Trump seems to think what he did at Mar-a-Lago works the same way in geopolitics. In the book he proudly recounts buying the land directly in front of Mar-a-Lago, threatening a massive build that would destroy the ocean view forever, scaring away buyers, and snatching the property at a bargain. Now the play is to have the U.S. Navy blockade the Strait of Hormuz, cut off 20% of global oil, and force countries into buying American oil at whatever price and quantity he dictates. Pure extortion.
