The people who coin the phrase "if it's stupid but it works, it ain't stupid" clearly have never worked on legacy software.

@gmta_nl @blackroomsec It kind of feels like you're being used to make a point and that feels a bit gross. I get where you're coming from but if it's really just to take a number to their boss...

@ToonSpin @blackroomsec It's not really wasting time if you're aware of this being a thing! Candidates usually stand out if they're not really interested or are prodding for the compensation. Similarly I've always encouraged people to talk to other companies if they're already at max compensation.

@naomirwolf I completely agree: it's a coincidence. It's more likely that your devices are haunted because of Halloween than that whoever you think did whatever you think they did.

I endorsed Pres Donald Trump yesterday. Today all day my phone froze, the cursor on my computer started wandering around the desktop, and my wifi continually disconnected. All coincidentally.

@QuinnyPig Their lawyers probably told them not to say it took them two weeks to notice.

Toss the dude in jail—but Disney, come on. If this took you “two weeks to recover” and he got in via his own creds after his termination? I hope your IT policies aren’t Minnie Mouse, because they’re fucking Goofy. And you should be ashamed of your lack of processes.

@skamille Going purely off the headline for this, it's gutsy both of the columnist and of the editor for them to publish this IMO. I love it.

@troyhunt Yes, if for no other reason that here in the Netherlands it's illegal not to. But also for moral reasons. People have a right to know the safety of their data has been compromised and they run various risks.

An individual obtains a "highly confidential" data set via a publicly accessible DB backup, then sends it to me. The company knows him, and he commits to deleting the data (as do I). It contains 400k+ users - should the company notify them of the breach? Explain more in reply.
