@nytimes It is obvious from the photo that the arch is NOT designed to be built in Washington, DC. Since it is on the other side of the river from the Washington Monument, the arch is being built in Virginia. The New York Times can't even get a basic fact like that right any more? Sad.

Hi Erick, I am sure you know this, but your followers might now know this. So you are deliberately misleading them. "Transgender Day of Visibility" has been held on a fixed date—March 31—every year since its inception in 2009. President Biden had issued a formal proclamation for it on that date every year of his presidency (2021, 2022, and 2023). Easter Sunday, on the other hand, is a "movable feast," meaning its date changes every year based on the lunar cycle. In 2024, it just happened to land on March 31. So on March 31st 2024, Biden did BOTH. He celebrated Easter and also the Trans Day of Visibility, because it HAPPENED to fall on the same day in 2024.

Christian and trans woman here. Trans Day of Visibility is always March 31st. Always has been. It's a fixed date. Easter is not a fixed date. It falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon on, or after, March 21st. That means there are 35 possible days on the calendar Easter can fall on. Because for Easter and other moveable feasts, Christians use astronomy to set and celebrate them. You claim to be offended or upset or whatever because Pres. Biden observed a fixed day of recognition for a community whose existence bothers you on the same day that coincidentally happened to be Easter. But Mr. Erickson, your weird and sad discomfort is not about taking umbrage over disrespect to Christianity. If it were, you wouldn't be offering support for war crimes against civilians, which decidedly goes against Christ's teachings. None of this is about faith for you. It's about your very deep discomfort with trans people, so much so that you would reject Christ's teachings in order to favor that discomfort. Someday, you will meet God and you will be called to account for exploiting the sacrifice of Christ as a shameless grift to enrich yourself and erroneously soothe your hateful tendencies.
