@fartagaz I think it’s fine to not expect a billion dollars. But something around $400m puts this at about a modern MCU movie performance which is IMO a piss poor showing for what should be a big theatrical franchise like Star Wars

@TzarRevan weve seen reports that LF were aware this wouldnt get the same box office as a Skywalker episode I get the sense theyre treating this as a soft launch before the big ticket Gosling movie next year and are willing to settle for breakeven here with merch to prop them up

as a sales analyst by trade, seeing every outlet compare TMAG box office to Solo’s is so frustrating bc it’s such a bad comparison based on production budgets alone, let alone cultural factors

The funniest part about this extended sequence in THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU is that they clearly realized lots of people wouldn’t get the reference so they have Pedro Pascal say “It’s a Dejarik match!” like three times in five minutes in hopes you’ll know what it’s called

It’s pretty telling that the line on Mando and Grogu appears to be “…well it’s not gonna LOSE the company money!”

@TzarRevan @TSoS_ Which is fine and all, but there has to be an angel on Finn’s other shoulder, and there just isn’t. One could make the argument for Rose Tico, but Rose isn’t telling Finn to join the Resistance. Rose pulls Finn into giving a middle finger to the elites at Space Vegas. That’s it.

This guy might just be my least favourite character in all of Star Wars. Absolutely no place in this story. Only there so he can drop a stupid surface-level analysis of politics and capitalism. Utterly boring and meaningless.

@GojiFan_78 @TSoS_ Finn’s part in TFA Is mostly around being Rey’s friend. Everything he does in the last third of the movie is explicitly to help save her. He says “I’m only here to save Rey” on SKB. His bravery extends to helping one person, he’s only helping the resistance as a means to do that.

This scene has become emblematic of people's hatred for this movie. My issue has never been that Luke rejects the lightsaber. It makes sense in the context of the movie and TFA and I think it's an incredibly strong way to start this movie, leaving you wondering what the hell is going on. The issue is, once again, Rian Johnson's overbearing humour. He thinks Luke throwing the lightsaber over his shoulder is really clever and funny, but it undercuts a much stronger moment where he would have simply handed it back to Rey, said something and walked off. My issue with Johnson's Luke has never really been his exile, his initial unwillingness to join the fight or his depression. It has always been that he is written as a huge cunt. The kind and compassionate Luke we know is gone, replaced by a sarcastic dick who constantly mocks and belittles Rey. That is Rian Johnson's greatest sin.

I’ve seen some very out there hypotheticals in my day, but Lieutenant Quattro; this takes the cake.
