(I even encourage tracing if you're ever legit stumped, but as private practice) But yeah, keep making stuff and see what sticks—everyone does it. Looks like you already got it from here! Again, do the silhouettes thing if you're stuck.

@Unknown3032 @ArtDeiTech Thank you! I just looked up lots of 'furry paws' and 'dragon paws' online and tried to replicate some of what I saw... Some attempts look pretty servicable! Some barely resemble a limb let alone a paw 😅 But my assumption is if I just keep at it the forward momentum will help!

@KiraTheUnholy @ArtDeiTech Yeah... Seriously though, what you're doing there—it's good to try out different angles, number of digits, how the joints work, and what do the claws look like. Because this is where you pick and choose which would best fit what you wanna make and work further on that.

@Unknown3032 @ArtDeiTech I've just been trying to learn something new every day basically. I drew the heads of a bunch of my friend's sonas over a few weeks and I'm pretty satisfied that I can draw heads at an amateurish level now. So I've moved on to other body parts, and it's... quite hard!

@KiraTheUnholy @ArtDeiTech After that, you can layer the rest of the thing you're making—but also as simple colors, like paper dolls—and then, lines. By that point, that's where you finally add the detail and rendering—and you can finally decide at what level you wanna do!

Anyway, starting with silhouettes lets you make quick and easy adjustments if something is off—Use construction to check if a part is too long, short, big, or small. It's gonna feel weird, because it's actually your imagination that does the heavy lifting.

@Unknown3032 @ArtDeiTech Shapes are what I'm working on. Just trying to draw fullbodies that don't look weird. I spent the first couple of weeks drawing faces until they started looking less bad. Drawing various body parts now to improve my understanding.

@KiraTheUnholy @ArtDeiTech It feels so "draw the rest of the owl" But you gotta figure out the simple "whole" of your drawing before making the smaller adjustments and polish. On this, I started with blobs of color, and then chipped away with the eraser tool until it vaguely looks like what I wanna make.

@KiraTheUnholy @ArtDeiTech You can think about that while working on the basics. Yeah the minor 'two-tone' shading and lighting is nice—but for me, the real good place to start is the overall shapes and figures of what you wanna make—could a character, object, or place. Try colored silhouettes for now.

@KiraTheUnholy @ArtDeiTech Before studying stuff, you gotta figure out what level of detail you actually wanna work on. It's gonna be deflating if you spent so much time learning something to ArtDeiTech's level, only to realize it's either overkill or unfitting of what you want.

@ArtDeiTech What's your advice to someone just starting art? I don't use AI but I've just started to learn to draw. Picked up a drawing tablet and I've been spending a couple hours each day drawing, mostly headshots thus far and I'm not really sure what I should focus on.
