If there is one thing we should all learn from what is happening in #Ukraine️ it is to appreciate the things we do have and never to take peace in our land for granted 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦

@FlowerdewBob It’s a nightmare isn’t it. I wrote the index for my book, all 300 plus pages, the hard way - manually, no software help. It took a hard, long week. Hardest bit of all I think.

I can’t really stomach using a platform owned by someone who’s ethos I detest. I’ll be here very rarely now. Please keep in touch. Instagram & threads @dot.tyne Blue sky @dottyne.bsky.social

@AspectForest To be fair, I haven’t used for about 18 months. I was hoping to use it again soon too 🙄

@VSSufficiency Thank you for the help Dot. A number of people have suggested this app, it looks really good, so I installed it. I uninstalled it when it said that they now charge a subscription of £69.99 per month. I believe it used to be free. Can’t justify that for the bit of use it will get.

Looking for some recommendations…… Is anyone successfully using a free app on iPhone that plots an area on a map via walking it on the ground? Eg field, woodland compartment etc Thank you!

And a ‘fair playing field’ is not asking farmers to run 2/3 other jobs/businesses to make ends meet when they already have an incredibly demanding job.

@SouthYeoFarm It’s a very stupid comment, especially as the Treasury have been adamant that hardly any farms will be affected anyway 🤬

@VSSufficiency I will never vote Tory, but I am so angry at this absurd positioning. It's beyond deaf.

The joy & relief I felt at the end of the Tory govt has melted into dismay & disappointment. The NHS needs massive investment but WTF is the PM doing aligning its problems against supporting food security & farming? This is not about tax breaks. independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-n…

Nice to have conformation that breeding policy is going in the right direction, with average index increasing year on year, while keeping true to type and correct! @prohill_sheep

Interesting Fact, one reason the Horse Chestnut (conker tree) was so named, is because of the Horseshoe shaped scar (complete with 7 nails) that sits below every new 'sticky bud' of the season. The scar is where last years leaves were formed.😍

@CarlBovisNature Can totally relate! My oh managed to accidentally stick a knife in his thumb joint just before Christmas and ended up having to have surgery to repair a severed tendon. One handed for about 12 weeks in total. 5,5 weeks to go 🙄 Men eh 😂

⬆️ Thank for your concern everyone! 🙏❤️ It was a split second stupid thing to do, but I kept hold of the boiling metal flask for a few seconds after the initial scolding water burn, instead of dropping it immediately, I don't know why, think it was shock! My better half took it off me and plunged my hand in the washing up bowl which she quickly filled with cold water. At this point it was agony..I only glanced at my fingers fleetingly but skin was hanging off 2 of them.. After about half an hour of keeping my hand in the cold water we decided it would be a good idea to go to A&E, so Nick wrapped my hand in clingfilm and a wet tea-towel and she drove me to hospital. Despite there being a lot of people waiting to be seen I was called in straight away. They turned on a cold tap and I held my hand under it for 20 minutes (when I took the photo above). Then I was taken into another room and a lovely nurse had a look, she congratulated me on doing such a good job of burning myself! She had to cut off all the dead skin hanging off my 2 fingers, I couldn't watch as I'm pretty squeamish, but luckily it didn't hurt so much as I was already in enough pain with the actual burn! Then she put gauze with vaseline around 3 burnt fingers and bandaged them up. I'm going back tomorrow for them to check on it and change the dressing. Now I'm realising how much I actually use my left hand... things like doing up shoelaces and eating with a knife and fork are out of the window for the time being, and I certainly won't be able to drive! Worse still, I don't think I'll be taking photos for a while.. 😭 I burnt myself as I was making a flask of coffee to take out with me to RSPB Greylake... obviously, I didn't visit in the end.. 🙄 What a great start to February eh! 😔 The pain has eased now, helped by paracetamol! Sorry I haven't posted any birds yet today, hope to post a couple before I go to bed! Thanks again everyone... much love from a doughnut in Somerset. 😅❤️

Lesson learnt... Don't put boiling hot water in a flask and shake it without checking that the top is closed first... 🙄 Badly burnt 3 fingers and palm... just got back from A&E... it hurts! 😥

@1901gennelm I’d like to see the research for this. Does it just include private cars? What about all those people that need a pickup for their work? Don’t they need them in Norway. I couldn’t do my job without one and an electric alternative 4x4 that can tow 3.5 isn’t on the market yet.

I'm feeling like I've lost all enthusiasm and motivation for the farm at the moment. We have an awful lot on at the moment, and many things seem to be going wrong. Is anyone else feeling this way?
