Nothing “quiet” about it. We are proud to reverse the DOJ’s weaponization under the Biden administration. We will do everything in our power to make whole those who were persecuted for political purposes. This includes stripping DOJ’s website of partisan propaganda.
Meryl Kornfield@MerylKornfield

The Trump admin is quietly deleting info about the Capitol attack from the DOJ website as it prepares to give funds to J6ers. This week, DOJ deleted a press release about one man with an ongoing child solicitation case who came to the Capitol with bear spray. Before and after:

Ah, so what you are actually saying is that you agree that the policy does not make sense on its own terms and is in fact a coded part of a broader effort to restrict legal immigration. Thank you for being honest. x.com/robby_chocolat…
Robby Chocolate@robby_chocolate

@ReichlinMelnick The "point" is to get an inch, and take a mile. Same playbook the dems have run the last 20 years. Get them out now, refuse to let them back for overstaying visas to begin with. "Pause" visas for 5 years, complain if the left tries to take that away. Make it forever.

@billybinion A US billionaire cannot avoid a wealth tax simply by moving to Europe; they would have to formally renounce their US citizenship. Which they would not do.

Europe already tried this. Sweden, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Finland, and others had far milder wealth taxes than Bernie's and still abandoned them. They raised very little revenue & damaged the economy. Yet we keep getting told this time will be different.
Bernie Sanders@BernieSanders

Mr. Bezos: Let's have that debate. Under my 5% billionaires wealth tax, we'd: -Give $12K to a working family of 4 -Expand Medicare for dental, vision, hearing -Guarantee universal childcare -Raise starting teacher pay to $60K And you'd still be worth $269 billion after taxes.

This is just one of many ridiculous examples that sticks out in my mind. The idea that a “constitutional perspective” doesn’t include due process is divorced from reality at a basic level. About 2 minutes of research would show anyone otherwise. Due process is an American value.
Billy Binion@billybinion

One of the more bizarre phenomenons of the last few weeks is seeing self-described libertarians come out against due process. Libertarians Who Think the Government’s Word Is Perfect and Trustworthy is not remotely coherent. Just drop the label & call yourself a MAGA Republican.

Thinking about the right-wing influencers who have been posting legally-illiterate takes for months about how immigrants aren't entitled to due process—when the opposite has been case law for decades. Today’s ruling was entirely predictable. Facts don't care about your feelings.
Aaron Reichlin-Melnick@ReichlinMelnick

The Supreme Court makes clear AGAIN that the Trump administration cannot throw people onto plane with little to no notice. Those subject to the Alien Enemies Act MUST be given given time to contact a lawyer, file a habeas lawsuit, and pursue the case. Anything less is illegal.

I'm not sure whether this is is a joke. "Narco-terrorist" is a term - NOT original to me: I would by no means try to claim such a famous and widely used label - which refers to a member of a FTO/recognized terrorist group "distinguished by the sale and distribution of narcotics." I would be glad to provide citations, but you or other debaters in the comments can Grok this as well. If you want to have a semantic debate about whether I should have said "members of FTOs and enemy regimes who sell narcotics" rather than the more melodramatic and Republican "narco-trafficante," that's fine and actually a good point. But, there is almost no serious argument that the state cannot use lethal force against likely FTO terrorists! If you think we SHOULD not, and should pursue a costly due process-based approach, cool, fine. I disagree. Rules aren't real. Sink the boats!

We can go through each cartel if Billy wants, but his point below is simply not true. Multiple cartels are designated FTOs, several Presidents suggested doing this before Trump, and this fact is universally known in the law. Every leftist martyr - here, narco-terrorists - is "Michael Brown" or some similar scumbag, and why this is is a truly fascinating psychological question.

@billybinion There are at least hundreds of them, if not thousands, who would be getting eight figure settlements from the government for the malfeasance endured during these sham “trials” in any other circumstance. The fund is a tiny fraction of what would be considered justice.

@Ryan_Reilly78 @billybinion Shockingly, it is both possible to believe that her sentence was bad (due to being based partially on speech) and that she shouldn't be financially rewarded for what she did. But I guess that concept doesn't compute to someone living in a partisan bubble.

@SovEconomy @David_J_Bier So basically it improves things that actually matter and 'destroys' abstract meaningless concepts that only matter to people who don't have any real values to stick behind. Weird that you're anti-immigration when you're fine letting Bier live rent-free in your head tho.

@David_J_Bier Cato libertarianism looks great on a spreadsheet if you ignore data points of the destruction of social cohesion, family formation, and the gini coefficient. GDP and the markets go up due to unchecked labor migration that displaced the native population which is a win for Cato.

If the Cato Institute comes out swinging for open borders, more free trade that hollows out our industries, or against any real border enforcement , take the opposite position immediately. That’s not ideology, that’s pattern recognition. Cato’s brand of libertarianism works great in theory and on a spreadsheet. In the real world, it consistently pushes policies that dissolve national cohesion and hand the country over to whoever shows up. Want to keep an actual country with a culture, an economy, and a future? Simple rule: Cato’s for it, we do the opposite. Works every time
TheBlaze@theblaze

CATO Institute advocate for mass immigration: "Give up on the mass deportation fantasy. One in five Fairfax residents is someone who could be deported or lives with them. It would destroy neighborhoods.”

@David_J_Bier Nothing. As you know many migrant workers that are documented and undocumented live 8 to 10 on a house. This is how they work for less which suppresses wages for American workers who have a standard of living that cannot compete with that. You know this and I know this

The post he's commenting on shows that immigrants represent only 6% of the street homeless, which means that they are 82% less likely to be street homeless than the US-born.
Eric Schmitt@Eric_Schmitt

Over HALF of LA’s homeless aren’t even from there. Venezuela? North Korea? Blue cities turn into magnets for global chaos while burying the data. Billions wasted with worsening results. But remember, @spencerpratt isn't allowed to rebuild his burnt down house.
