Nine years on from the tragic events of the Manchester Arena bombing, we remember the 22 innocent lives that were lost on that awful night.
They will never be forgotten.

@ahsokareign2023 I still can’t believe they retconned Jek to be this clone in Revenge of the Sith - meaning that Yoda canonically beheads him like 2 years after this scene.

Proper awkward situation. You go with someone else and he has a mare then it's you should have kept him. He has a mare then it's we should have gone for someone else. Can't win.

@Colonel_Stan @Capt_Barker I felt like the ending felt a little bit rushed (understandably given Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm) but the rest of it was incredible.

@Capt_Barker The Dark Times is a masterpiece, one of my favorite Star Wars comic runs of all time.

The separation of Darth Vader from Anikan Skywalker is being done for more ideological purposes than anything that is real or historical for the character. Newer ideologies do not have the same relationship with grace and redemption. It has been called their greatest flaws and drawbacks. Vader is redeemed by his son at the end of Return of the Jedi. He pays for his crimes with his life, but in the eyes of the Force he returns in grace.
Now this definitely pulls from Christian eschatology and is similar to other religions, but it was what Lucas was thinking. The second worst man in the galaxy could be redeemed was high in his thoughts.
So today people talk about him being a different person as if that makes the redemption palatable. This was not how he was treated by earlier EU writers. My favorite is Randy Stradley's Dark Times. Vader is evil doing evil things.. but he is still Anikan Skywalker in there trying to figure out what happened to him and make sense of how his choices lead to this moment. This early Darth Vader realizes that he was manipulated by the Emperor, but he also realizes that he has no where to go and the trigger is against his head at all times, even if he didn't need the empire's constant medical care to maintain him.
We have not had nuanced stories like this in some time. They are complicated and they are messy, but they are also some of the best story telling we can get with these characters. One does not have to be adherents of the underlying philosophies in order to tell stories like this.
