Most likely this is Elliot related but let's put on the clown costume for a bit. Could this be magic burst the ultimate spell of Sorceria in DQ6? Is that a Pendulum from a grandfather clock? Is this super vague general sketch and it's weird coming from an official account?

@Crossy_C98 Yes, that’s a funny little trick I used quite a lot, but it really highlighted just how unpolished it was, as things like that could be exploited, whereas buffs and debuffs were never any use because the effect wore off before you could make the most of them

@XMaurith Funnily enough you can abuse the slow animations. Regen ticks along on it's own timer so you have everyone set with regen and then summon a big summon with a long animation, let the animation play out and you are all fully healed

@Crossy_C98 Exactly. I find FF9 a bit lacking in terms of gameplay, as the ATB system feels a bit odd, the battles are very slow, and they don’t have the entertaining gimmicks of the early FF games. It focuses entirely on the story

@XMaurith Long since said this. The actual turn based combat of FF was never that great. 4 and 5 had some fun bosses because they were more like timed puzzles you solve. But the real fun moreso came from the progression systems

@Crossy_C98 Yes, and I don’t think it throws the game off balance too much, as the MP cost of the enhanced skills is usually quite high. It was actually really fun experimenting with that aspect and discovering new skills

@XMaurith Sigils are great because you can ignore them and treat them as a random thing like crits. Or actively use them if you know what triggers certain effects like spells transforming etc. Such a tiny little thing but it adds just enough extra complexity without ruining the base

@Crossy_C98 The thing is, back when Final Fantasy had turn-based combat—which was when the ATB system was still in use—it wasn’t really all that great. What made the games entertaining were the customisation systems they added, such as the Materia or job systems.

@Crossy_C98 I think Team Asano has done a good job of keeping the traditional turn-based combat entertaining and engaging. It’s easy to understand yet offers depth at the same time. The sigils in DQI&II have actually been one of the best additions

@Crossy_C98 That may be the case though I’m not sure if the Will of Darkness will make such a prominent reappearance given that it was already defeated a second time. Unless that defeat wasn’t enough and its power is limitless as long as it has someone to possess or someone who worships it

@XMaurith It may be retreading similar water to DQ2 though and tying it's cult to the will of darkness. But then also lf the root of all evil in the dragon Quest multiverse that stems from a giant evil alien wearing a suit that looks like Cell showed up, I'd start a cult too

I'm hoping for a Dragon Quest Monsters 3 Professional expansion. They did DQMJoker 2 Pro and DQMJoker 3 Pro that expanded the online, added about 25-50% more story content, etc etc, after those games launched. DQM3's online is pretty anemic and you can't even create the final story bosses, the postgame just... ends. So it's ripe for expansion DLC.

@Crossy_C98 On the other hand, I think monsters in the Dragon Quest universe don’t have a set lifespan, so they could live for centuries or even millennia, and that wouldn’t be all that surprising. After all, Hargon lived for centuries in the Erdrick trilogy, and he started out as a human

@Crossy_C98 They could introduce Aamon and/or Ladja as villains with plans that have been unfolding in the background since Dragon Quest VI, or Dragon Quest IV in Ladja’s case. I think that would be interesting and would give those villains more depth.

@XMaurith Wonder what that could be. You could definitely imply the borth of Estark in 6 and use Estark as the through line but he was an optional boss in 5 so idk. Maybe have Nokturnus be the avatar of the will of darkness this time around and he returns in 5? Idk

@Crossy_C98 The Zenitihia trilogy has never really shone as a single, overarching story told across three games, but they might be aiming to change that. They might introduce a plot that unfolds from the very first game, as with Hargon in DQ3

@XMaurith If they really do go 6 first, even though with the Zenithia trilogy games being so far apart in time it isn't as big a deal as the Erdrick ones. Showing Rek falling into the world below and encountering a regular slime would probably be the trailer

@Crossy_C98 I hope to see something from Dragon Quest VI first; I reckon they’ll follow the same chronological order for the remakes. Given that they already have the ‘template’ for HD-2D DQs, we might see the first village, the first dungeon and battle scene if they show anything

【ご報告】SHUTARO 逝去のお知らせ 去る2026年2月10日(火)早朝、弊社クリエイティブディレクターSHUTAROが、約1年半に及ぶ癌との闘病の末、永眠いたしました。 彼とは『キャッスルヴァニア ―暁月の円舞曲―』以来、ともに仕事をしてまいりました。 名作と称される数々のタイトルも、彼の貢献なくしては成し得なかったと言っても過言ではありません。 その才能は群を抜いておりました。 私がドラキュラシリーズを離れた後は、ともに仕事をする機会も少なくなりましたが、現在の会社に誘った際、二つ返事で来てくれたことに、心から感謝しております。 『Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night』の成功も、彼の大きな支えがあってこそだと感じています。 気がつけば、20年以上にわたり支えられてきました。 常にゲームのことを考え、命を燃やすように制作に向き合っていた人でした。 2024年9月、末期癌であることが判明した際には、大きな衝撃を受けました。 その後の約1年半に及ぶ闘病生活は、想像を絶する過酷なものだったと思います。 旅立ちはあまりにも残念ですが、苦しみから解放されたのだと思うと、どこか安堵の気持ちもあります。 これまで全力で走り続けてきた分、今はどうかゆっくり休んでほしいと願っています。 現在、彼が手掛けていた『Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement』は制作の途上にありますが、彼の思いが込められた大切な作品です。 彼に笑われないよう、その志を受け継ぎ、しっかりと完成させてまいります。 これまで以上のご支援、ご声援をよろしくお願いいたします。 ご遺族のお気持ちに思いを寄せるとともに、心よりご冥福をお祈りいたします。
