@eye4msu Think it was announced last year, but believe this is the first "major" implementation of it.
Wish people understood the reason behind it more. After seeing a ton of utility-caused fires throughout the West, definitely going to be a necessary thing - esp with our dry winter.

@NOBRAKZ @CoconinoNF Less than an acre, those are silent unless its starting to grow or threaten something. Felt pretty good when they had like 3-4 units and said they didn't need any other resources. You can also enable notifications for silents, but that may get a bit noisy (notification fatigue)

Our firefighters are responding to the Landon Fire, a half-acre wildfire located 1.5 miles west of Interstate 17 between Flagstaff and Kachina Village.
Crews have line around the fire and are working toward containment, and members of the public are asked to avoid the area during full suppression efforts.

@nicholasadeleon I tried playing again recently - and realized while I enjoyed the nostalgia hit, I really just missed the OG people I played with for years. It just wasn’t the same.

@NOBRAKZ @HotshotWake I'm no expert, but I think it's just an extension of the East's fire season - and it's colliding with the start of the Western fire season. Weather sure isn't helping, and with those plains fires, I see a lot of talk about these invasive Cedars (?).

Here is a view from the 24 Fire in Colorado last night. The wildfire has been updated at 1,067 acres and zero percent contained.
The Fremont County Sheriff says a 21 mile stretch of HWY 115 is closed from MM 18-39.
A two mile evacuation order has gone out, with a 3 mile pre evacuation order in place. Colorado Fire season is underway. Thanks to the subscriber who shared this view of the fire last night.

@NOBRAKZ @watchdutyapp @kaffnews Been watching the Baker Butte cam - but the Azimuth seems off. Map shows it looking towards the Sinkhole RX on the rim, but the image (to me) appears to line up with Clover. Not a lot of traffic on Coco South - just units repsonding - they've been on it awhile.

Absurd heat! Despite our best efforts, the monster heat dome is bound to be "undersold" by the meteorology community. Why? Because intensity like this is almost never seen. This thing has the potential to be Epic for Mid-March, and not in a good way. The magenta is where this ridge is forecast (Euro) to be the most intense on record for the day. It's not the size of a city or a state, is literally the majority of the American West. The March record for Palm Springs is 104. For Phoenix it is 100. The National Blend of models has numbers between 105-110 late next week for these two locations. If that happens, we break March surface temp records by absurd margins. And... 1/

Had a monsoon storm roll through last weekend. Lightning struck a tree and caught it on video. When going out to check it, found two dead bucks in the rubble of what was left of the tree. Felt like I was in a story from @MeatEaterTV. Salvage tag was issued too!

Arizona Forestry working #AspenFire, W of Kachina Village at top of Le Barron Hill.
Fire est. 1-1.5 ac & burning in heavy dead/downed in rough terrain. One state hand crew along w/engine currently engaged w/2nd crew on order.
Fire is visible from I-40, I-17, & Flagstaff.
