@_3Jane I need to investigate ssb a lot more. I get side-tracked by their protocol / technical implementation instead! It would be nice to have a web presence to share chat around a subject to encourage community growth and greater knowledge sharing. Not sure if that's possible.

So where is everyone heading to? I'm not sure that I have the attention span to maintain several active accounts on several different services (including special-themed mastodon instances)

@_3Jane They do have "pubs" but I've not investigated enough to see how well they work by interest. Google+ was excellent for it, and I miss it because I got to know some amazing people through it (like here). I'm a bit twitchy about Mastodon because I'm not sure how well it may scale.

@BTowersCoding To me it's more of a duplication of effort. I already have WhatsApp and Discord for p2p connection and small community chat. Twitter is great/horrible because everyone is here, and posts of well-followed accounts create adhoc themed chatrooms

@ChrisWestcottUK ssb is my "almost perfect" technologically tbh! The p2p aspect is great for scaling, but the focus on invitation makes it a poor Twitter-public-square substitute (in the sense that you can't meet and make friends with new people by attending the same public space.)

@_3Jane Mastodon for now. But it's not clicked with me as much as Twitter did (or G+, or LiveJournal) I'm playing around with #ssb #scuttlebutt too but there's a lot less traction.

I forgot I had a sweet setup for previews of new articles on my blog. (Heck I almost forgot I had a blog.) Gonna have to write *that* up somewhere as well at some point XD

@pozorvlak There's actually a really interesting variety of cheeses in the UK, you just have to go to speciality stores to get them because most of it never makes an appearance in the supermarket.

@annaecook Yeah, after 15 it’s like ‘why are they still an IC’ or ‘can they even keep up with modern tech’ It’s insanity.

As fucked up as it is, if you have 20+ years of experience and are applying in the tech startup world, I would advise you not to put that on the top of your resume. Ageism is a BITCH in our industry.

obscuring that you're passing an unknown (but likely large) number of values as arguments down the stack by storing them adhoc in a single State argument (a map) does NOT count as self-documenting code jesus wept

I don't care that it's a local function calling a local function, if I use your library as a dependency, I still need to be able to read it and understand what it does
