A farmer dies in April 2026.
His son inherits the farm. The farm has been in the family since 1847.
The farm consists of: 300 acres of grazing pasture, a farmhouse built in 1892, a barn, a milking parlour, two tractors of varying ages, a Land Rover that runs about 70% of the time, and a herd of 180 Hereford-cross cattle.
On paper, the farm is worth approximately £3.2 million. This is because land near him has been bought recently by a London hedge fund looking for carbon credits, which has dragged the comparable value of every field within forty miles upward to a number nobody local can justify.
In cash, the farm produces a profit of about £28,000 a year in a good year. In a bad year it loses money. The son also works as a fencing contractor three days a week to keep the operation viable.
The inheritance tax bill on a £3.2 million estate, even at the reduced 20% rate, comes to approximately £140,000 after the increased threshold is applied. The son does not have £140,000. The son has never had £140,000. The son has £4,200 in his current account and an overdraft.
The son sells 60 acres to a developer to pay the tax. The developer puts solar panels on the 60 acres. The remaining herd cannot be sustained on the reduced land. The herd is sold. The barn becomes a holiday let.
A different family eats Brazilian beef this Christmas without knowing why the price went up.
The Treasury collects £140,000.
The land never produces British food again.

so #OllieMcburnie proven goal scorer who won the £200mill game for Hull and has scored goals wherever he plays , is snubbed for World Cup by Clark in favour of proven donkeys Dykes and Adams.Something tells me that by the end of the group stage this will have come back to haunt.

So what is the point of the Scottish FA’s key match incident panel admitting Celtic should NOT have received the match-winning penalty against Motherwell after the damage is already done?
The result stands. The points stand. The trophy celebrations stand. Fans of other clubs are simply told afterwards: “Yes, the officials got it wrong.”
If major decisions that influence a title race are later admitted to be incorrect, then supporters of clubs like Hearts have every right to ask serious questions about sporting integrity and who the real champions should have been.
How many times are Scottish football fans expected to accept “mistakes” with no accountability, no transparency, and no consequences?
This is exactly why supporters are losing faith in officiating and VAR in Scotland. Scottish football deserves better.

Football should bring people together, not shut them out.
For the first time since the competition began, fans won’t be able to watch the Champions League final for free. That’s not right.
This is bigger than wanting to watch Arsenal in this historic final. It’s bigger than one club.
Hardworking people shouldn’t have to fork out for a subscription to watch this match.
I urge TNT Sports to reconsider and make the final next Saturday free to watch.

When Andy Goram had three months left on his Motherwell contract, he already knew he was not getting another one.
He was coming towards the end of his career, driving to training with his wife Miriam, and the phone rang at half nine in the morning.
It was Ally McCoist.
That was suspicious enough on its own.
Ally did not usually phone people at half nine in the morning unless he was still coming in from the night before.
So Goram spoke to him, thought nothing more of it, and went into training.
At lunchtime, the phone went again.
This time it was Walter Smith.
Walter was at Everton then, but he told him to keep his phone on because somebody was about to ring him.
“What is it, gaffer? You got a job for me?”
Walter just told him:
“Just keep your f****** phone on.”
A couple of minutes later, the phone rang again.
“Goalie, it’s Alex Ferguson here.”
“We’ve got Bayern Munich on Wednesday and Liverpool at the weekend. Barthez is injured and Raimond van der Gouw is struggling. I need you to come down on loan until the end of the season.”
Goram knew exactly what was happening.
Ally McCoist could do Ferguson’s voice perfectly.
So he gave the only answer that made sense.
“Coisty, f*** off.”
And he put the phone down.
Then the phone rang again.
This time Goram told Miriam to answer it.
“Miriam, this is Alex Ferguson, and you can tell that fat b****** he’s got ten seconds to say aye or naw.”
It really was Sir Alex Ferguson.
So Andy Goram went to Manchester United.
Steve McClaren took him round the dressing room and introduced him to the squad.
Goram knew most of them already.
Then they got to Roy Keane.
No handshake.
Just Keane staring at him.
Goram looked at him and said:
“There’s no point is there?”
Keane just said:
“No.”
And that was it.
Keane was a Celtic man.
Goram was a Rangers man.
They did not exchange a civil word in three months.
Training did not exactly help.
They were playing eight-a-side one day, and Keane and Luke Chadwick were up front for Goram’s team.
Goram pinged a half-volley straight on to Chadwick’s foot.
Chadwick snatched at it and put the volley over the bar.
Keane turned on Goram straight away.
“Hey you, give me the f****** ball.”
Goram was not having that.
“What, do you get the ball just because you’re Roy Keane? F*** off.”
From that moment, the atmosphere was gone.
On the way off the pitch, Gary Neville came over to him.
“Goalie, we don’t talk to Roy like that down here.”
“We just don’t.”
Goram wasn’t ready to start building relationships.
“F*** off Nev, do you just do everything Roy wants? Now do one.”
Neville just walked away without saying another word.

@BlairMcNally1 If the ref gets to referee a team he supports does not matter if he is full time or not.
We must be one of the only countries that allows this.

I have been sickened all day by the news of three boys who lured two schoolgirls, raped them, and filmed it on their phones while they laughed and egged each other on. When they finally stood before a judge this week, they were handed “rehabilitation orders” and walked out without serving a single day behind bars. Not in prison, not in custody or a young offender institution.
The judge said, “None of you need to go to prison”.
What message does that send to rapists? The crime could hardly be graver, yet the punishment was no punishment at all. It’s the collapse of consequences and the rot runs right through the justice system.
And this is only going to get worse because Labour are choosing to go soft on criminals:
❌ They have abolished short prison sentences.
❌ They have let tens of thousands of criminals out early.
❌ And now they want to raise the age of criminal responsibility, so that even MORE young offenders escape any consequence at all.
My position is common sense👇
PRISON WORKS.
✅It punishes those who do wrong, it keeps dangerous people off our streets and away from our children.
✅It tells every victim that the law is on their side.
A country that forgets this is a country where schoolgirls are raped and filmed for sport, and the boys who did it get to go home.
Conservatives stand against it and our policies on sentencing and prison are the ones that will deliver a stronger country.

I am absolutely fuming 🤬
I've just watched a TV ad for Richmond sausages.
It depicted a family of 6 sitting around a table eating their evening meal.
Shockingly, they were all white.
No one wearing a hijab, no random Chinese kid, no mixed race twins.
There wasn't even a blue haired, nose pierced person of indistinct gender.
And all this was broadcast during the early evening when impressionable children could be watching.
Absolutely disgusting.
