While writing the #StrangerThings5 finale, the Duffer Brothers debated and couldn’t agree on how Eleven’s story should end. Matt argued that if Eleven returns and reconnects with Hopper, it signals a clear choice to live. Ross pushed back, saying the ending should remain open. Ross Duffer: “We keep it ambiguous.” Matt Duffer: “If she comes back and has that moment with Hopper… she’s made a choice to live.” The finale ultimately chose ambiguity, leaving Eleven’s fate open to interpretation.
