Project: Quick kitchen renovation You can just rip apart your ugly kitchen Our kitchen was dark and boring when we moved in. Long-term, we want to do a full renovation and layout change, but we didn't have the time or money to jump into that. So we spent a few weekends and about $1,000 and turned it into a space we love. Sharing a couple tips & lessons learned in case they're helpful for others in our situation.

Nature is healing 🥲

10/10 would recommend. Killing the microwave was a definite "addition by subtraction" move for us. Rather than everything turning out the same and encouraging the hustle bustle of efficiency, it forced us to slow down and give each food the type of heat it deserves. Mashed potatoes? Topped with butter and baked to a nice crust in the oven. Quiche? warmed in the cast iron with a splash of water for moisture. And on, and on. x.com/_FarmerDad/sta…

Most window details today are drawn once, copy-pasted forever, and stapled to the wall like a pop-up book. This one took a bit more effort, and a few more bricks. You’ve got real corbelling, laid course by course to carry the load. A proper hard-sandstone sill that actually sheds water. And timber brackets that aren’t just decorative-they're doing the job, holding up a balcony like it’s 1870 and we still cared about gravity.
