No apology to make? Hold on, the Laws of the Republic of Kenya might make you reconsider. Here are at least 10 laws being contravened by the President. 1. Establishment of Religion (Violation of Article 8, Constitution of Kenya 2010) “There shall be no State religion.” Constructing a Christian church within the official presidential residence, funded or not by public money, creates the appearance of State endorsement of a specific religion. This contravenes Kenya’s constitutional commitment to religious neutrality. 2. Right to Equality and Non-Discrimination (Article 27 & Article 32) Article 27(4): The State shall not discriminate directly or indirectly on any ground, including religion. Article 32(1): Every person has the right to freedom of conscience, religion, thought, belief and opinion. Building a Christian church within a government facility—without similar facilities for other religions—amounts to unequal treatment of non-Christian citizens and public servants. 3. Public Land Misuse (Article 62(2), Constitution; Land Act 2012, Sections 11–12) Article 62(2): Public land is held by the national government in trust for the people of Kenya. Land Act s.12: Public land shall not be allocated or used except in accordance with the Constitution and this Act. State House is public land. Changing its use to accommodate religious purposes without formal reclassification or public interest justification violates land governance laws. 4. Improper Use of Office (Leadership and Integrity Act 2012, Section 11) A State officer shall not use the office to improperly confer a benefit on themselves or others. Even if funded personally, the use of the presidential office to initiate construction of a personal religious project on public property may constitute abuse of office. 5. Misuse of Public Property (Public Officer Ethics Act 2003, Section 12) A public officer shall not use public property for activities not related to official duties. Constructing and using a church within a government-owned facility for private worship breaches this restriction. 6. Non-Compliance with Public Procurement Laws (PPADA 2015, Sections 91–94) Section 91: All public works must be subjected to open tendering, unless exempted by law. Section 94: Exemptions must be approved by the relevant authority and recorded in writing. Even if private funds are used, construction on public land involving public resources (e.g. security, land, utilities) qualifies as public works and must follow procurement rules. 7. Lack of Budget Transparency (Public Finance Management Act 2012, Section 68; Constitution Article 201) Section 68(1): A public officer shall ensure that public resources are used in a lawful and authorised manner. Article 201: Principles of public finance include openness and accountability. Any ancillary costs e.g. security, maintenance, staffing must be disclosed and properly budgeted. Failure to do so undermines lawful resource use and transparency. 8. Unlawful Construction without Approval (Physical and Land Use Planning Act 2019, Sections 57–65) Section 57: No person shall carry out development within a county without obtaining development permission. A permanent building at State House still requires a building permit from Nairobi County. No exemption exists for the presidency. 9. Failure to Undertake Environmental Assessment (EMCA 1999, Sections 58–60) Section 58: Projects likely to have significant environmental impact must undergo an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). If the building exceeds threshold sizes or alters protected land, NEMA approval through an EIA is mandatory before construction begins. 10. Economic Crimes Exposure (ACECA 2003, Section 45) A person is guilty of an offence if they use public property to improperly confer a benefit to themselves or another. Officers who authorise or implement the church project without full legal compliance risk prosecution under anti-corruption law, even if the President is immune under Article 143.

Stop disfiguring roads, KeNHA @KeNHAKenya is quietly waging an undeclared war on motorists through a relentless spread of brutal rumble strips that have turned our national highways into obstacle courses. These oversized, unmarked, and unnecessarily harsh strips are wrecking car suspensions, making navigation difficult, especially for low-clearance vehicles, while dramatically extending travel times. They contribute to driver fatigue from constant braking and jolting, and force vehicles to emit more greenhouse gases due to repeated deceleration, idling, and acceleration. Sensitive cargo is damaged in transit from the violent vibrations, and motorcyclists are placed at serious risk of losing control and crashing. The strips increase noise pollution in communities that live near the roads, waste fuel, and drive up transport costs by slowing logistics. Worse still, they cause accidents when drivers swerve or brake abruptly, especially at night or in wet conditions. The biggest insult? There appears to be no uniform standard or rationale, just an arbitrary scattering of these strips, often without proper signage or engineering justification. KeNHA must abandon this crude approach and go benchmark with nearby Rwanda. The public deserves safe, efficient roads, not infrastructure that punishes movement.

I had actually forgotten this by it was #FredMatiang’i who kept defying court orders on returning @MigunaMiguna ‘s passport.
