Visited the old man ⁦@AndrewMwenda⁩ at Mulago Hosp where he was rushed this afternoon following severe vomiting . I suspected he could be pregnant only to find he’s suffering from Pseudopseudohypoparathyroidism🙊. Get well soon grandpa

Peace & stability that empowered restoration & development of kingdoms in Uganda that were abolished by Dr.Milton Obote, was fought for by Gen Tumwine & NRA! Owekitibwa @cpmayiga it’s not yet to late for U to come up with a simple condolence message to the family of Gen Tumwine!

Lived in Exile following the desecration of the Kingdom from 1966 - 1986. He returned to Uganda following the removal of the Obote II regime. He was proclaimed at Buddo on 24 July 1993 upon the restoration of the Ugandan Kingdoms. RIP Gen Elly Tumwine who contributed to this.

On behalf of the Ministry of Education and Sports and on my own behalf, I thank the Association of Headteachers of Secondary Schools in Uganda (ASSHU) for organizing its annual general meeting, and for having invited us to be part of your agenda.

Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it. May Lord comfort Jolly, the children and the larger family. Rest in Peace Comrade.

I salute you Gen Tumwine, my brother and friend. A star of our liberation and a patriot who never shied away from any actions that would bring honour to his land. May heaven receive you with the honour you deserve.

Milton Obote's Jan 1971 trip to Singapore--to attend a Commonwealth meeting--seems misguided in retrospect. He was overthrown by Gen Idi Amin on 25 Jan. But at the time the conference was for African leaders an occasion to protest British arms sales to S. Africa. Here's a clip.
