Engineer Matt Cortland built an AI voice agent named Rachel, gave her a Northern Irish accent, and pointed her at every pub in the country.
Over St. Paddy's weekend, she rang 3,000+ of them to ask one question: how much for a pint of Guinness?
How he built it: ElevenLabs for the voice, Twilio and an old Irish SIM to place the calls, Google Places API to map 5,200+ pubs across all 32 counties, and Claude to parse the transcripts for prices.
2,052 picked up. Barely any even realized she was AI. The whole operation ran him about €200.
The result is a live price index he's calling the Guinndex.
Ireland's statistics office used to track pint prices, but stopped in 2011.
An engineer with a weekend and a voice agent just picked up where they left off.

We’ve got AI to detect cancer, drone delivery for biryani and apps to schedule your pet’s meditation session. But no clue how to build a decent drainage system. And this is the tech capital of the country. Who’s to blame and who’s accountable- I honestly don’t know. Maybe it’s the system or it’s us. Maybe we were too busy building unicorns to notice the roads turning into rivers. One thing is for sure that the ESOPs, villas, and startup exits won’t buy us a shortcut through this mess. Everyone wants to “change India”. But sometimes I wonder, are we even solving the right problems? Anyway, just thoughts from another guy stuck in the traffic.

The only reason he's not a serial killer is because his four neck-slashing victims survived due to timely medical help.
These are not "viral rumours", there are three attempt to murder FIRs at their own police station. Three incidents, three nearby locations, and within minutes of each other. The fourth victim's FIR will be done today.
The criminal didn't just "injure" people. He actively attempted to murder them. This is the truth.
The police are doing their work and are very capable, but in the meanwhile there's no need to mislead people into not staying alert when such a deranged criminal is at large.
