With @MAFrancheUN, @UNDPSriLanka had a productive discussion with the Hon Minister for Public Administration and Local Government, the Secretary and the Registrar General. We discussed the progress on the OneRegistry project implemented with @WHO_SriLanka @PandavRajesh. Digitalization of key life milestones will transform the way how people access services and experience them. @UNSriLanka #OneRegistry @CanHCSriLanka @EU_in_Sri_Lanka @UKinSriLanka @UNPeacebuilding @JointSDGF We also exchanged views on our ongoing efforts to support #energy to #waste management with local government and upcoming public service perception survey #SDG16. The Pub Adm and local government authorities play a critical role in responding support and delivering services during and after the disaster. We look forward to working closely as the communities recover from #Ditwah.

Digital tools alone don’t transform systems, but people and processes do. At the Third Ministerial Conference on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics in Thailand, Dr Lakshmi Somatunga, the Additional Secretary for @MoH_SriLanka, was representing the country on the Panel on Inclusive #CRVS systems in support of the #2030Agenda for Sustainable Development. She stressed the importance of bringing quality into CRVS functions. Therefore, the gaps in the formats used in the health sector related to #CRVS have been identified, and the formats have been strengthened according to #global standards, while updating the audience on how Sri Lanka has advanced to ensure key #health services to migrants.

The Third Ministerial Conference on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics 2025 is underway in Bangkok, Thailand. The first day of the conference featured #subregional forums covering the Pacific, South and South-West #Asia, South-East Asia, and North and Central Asia. Sectoral forums were also held, focusing on Statistics, Health, and Civil Registration. Participants highlighted significant #national efforts toward the development of digitalised, integrated and interoperable #CRVS systems.

On the final day of the Donors and Development Partners Conference, the #OneRegistry initiative was showcased as a national example of advancing #digitalisation priorities and securing inclusive development. Led by the Govt of #SriLanka & @UNSriLanka, the OneRegistry project is jointly implemented by @UNDP #lka & @WHOSriLanka under the @UNSriLanka SDG Fund 🇨🇦 🇪🇺 🇬🇧 🇺🇸. The initiative supports Sri Lanka in fully digitising its CRVS processes to secure legal identity for all.

An intimate discussion was also held with selected officials from the Registrar General’s Department (RGD) to chart a #practical plan of action for the way forward in the area of staff capacity building. The conversation focused on how best to train staff to adopt the new digital #CRVS system by identifying who requires training, how frequently it should be conducted, and what additional capacity-building measures are needed. This collaborative dialogue marked an important step towards ensuring institutional #readiness and long-term sustainability of the #digital transformation agenda.
