Excellent commentary by @latikambourke on the importance of #AUKUS and why government needs to do better in countering opposing voices through better explaining the case for Australia buying nuclear submarines. The current challenge to AUKUS coming from Labor's backbench, as well as from ideologically driven voices who are exploiting the opportunity to attack the US-Australia alliance with AUKUS as a justification, won't be the last. There will be further such campaigns between now and when we receive the first Block IV Virginia class SSN in 2032. If the Albanese government is really committed to ensuring AUKUS succeeds, then it must make a firm stand now.
