Last Friday my aunt Di took her last breath under SA’s relatively new voluntary assisted dying laws. She had MND. It was a peaceful end to a life well lived.

The official inflation rate is sitting at 7%, yet my weekly grocery shopping is about 30% more. Once the prices go up they rarely come down.

@ByEichler @anniegowen @washingtonpost @PostGuild I too was retrenched by a manager reading from a press release. A group of us was told our program was axed with one day's notice. When the manager asked if anyone had any questions, we all just got up and left ...went straight to the pub!

@anniegowen @washingtonpost @PostGuild I remember a similar situation at a newspaper I worked at in Australia. After announcing layoffs by reading off a sheet of paper, the boss said he "hadn't factored in time for questions" and tried to hide behind other editors.
