Chaired the 12th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus). This year’s theme, “ASEAN Unity for Security and Prosperity,” reflects unity as the main shield in facing global challenges. I emphasised that ASEAN remains a symbol of unity and peace, founded on respect for sovereignty, peaceful resolution, and effective cooperation. The principle of “ASEAN Centrality” and the spirit of “ASEAN First” must continue to be preserved. Solidarity must not be conditional, for when one nation is challenged, the whole ASEAN is tested. The ADMM must go beyond traditional military cooperation towards technological innovation and cybersecurity. Digital threats are now as serious as physical threats to regional stability. ASEAN must remain the main platform for regional security and a facilitator of peace.
