The ANCYL leadership is today attending the official launch and movie trailer reveal of Studying Under the Barrel of a Gun, presented by Jalapeu Films at Ster Kinekor, Mall of Africa. The event also includes a cast and crew meet & greet together with the official wrap party celebrating the journey and legacy of the production. Among the ANCYL delegation attending the event are The ANCYL President Cde Collen Malatji, Secretary General Cde Tsakani Shiviti, and Deputy President Cde Francisco Dyantyi alongside leadership structures of the movement. The film tells the story of the historic 12 June 1986 Turfloop occupation under the apartheid regime, capturing the courage, resistance, and determination of students who stood against oppression during one of the defining moments in the struggle for liberation. Filmed at the University of Limpopo, the production commemorates 40 years since the student revolution and preserves an important history and heritage for future generations. The ANCYL delegation led by Secretary General Tsakani Shiviti, accompanied by NEC Members Cde Khulekani Skosana and Cde Ashley Malatji, held a bilateral engagement with the Umoja wa Vijana wa Chama Cha Mapinduzi (UVCCM) delegation led by SG Cde Khalid Mwinyi in Kibaha, United Republic of Tanzania. The engagement reaffirmed the historic relationship between the ANCYL and UVCCM, while committing both youth formations to deepen cooperation in advancing a common African youth agenda focused on economic empowerment, skills development, job creation, trade opportunities, and sustainable youth development across the continent. The message from Kibaha was clear, African youth cannot remain spectators in economies built around them but without them. For the ANCYL, this Centre must become a weapon of knowledge for a new generation of young revolutionaries, sharpening cadres through political education, leadership development, research, international solidarity and ideological training through engagement with the CPC and fellow liberation movements.
